Perception Student Newspaper
The Perception student newspaper was established by Alexandria McCulloch, an International and Economic Relations major, in the Spring of 2011 to provide a forum for the students of UNYP to voice their ideas on a variety of topics. By participating in this newspaper students can improve their resumes as well as be involved in extracurricular activities outside of school. This will allow them to gain confidence which is crucial to developing a worldly student and well-rounded individual. Each year the club will have elections so that prospective members can run for different positions such as Co-Editor, Copy Editor, Photographer(s), Page Designer(s), Student Council Representative, and Judges for the Annual Photography Competition.
UNYP is home to an extremely diverse student body and administration. The majority of the students have traveled halfway across the world to attend this university. For many, it is a gateway to receive an education that will help them succeed in the future because of its unique location and the international dual degree program. The school is centrally located in Prague which adds an interesting aspect to student’s personal and academic lives. The transition from secondary school to university education is scary enough, add studying abroad to the mix and you have created a whole other level of trepidation. This transition into adulthood can be nerve-wracking. That is why this newspaper will be dedicated to providing students with information about world events, advice on how to succeed academically, recommendations for cultural events and local hot spots, interviews with UNYP staff members and leaders in the Prague community, reports on UNYP activities, and much more. We hope that this information will help them to feel more comfortable in their new setting so that they can enjoy all the best Prague has to offer.
All students, regardless of their field of study, are able to contribute to the newspaper. This is an opportunity for students to write about the things they love and further their passions. By students sharing these little treasures of information they enhance the lives of fellow students and faculty. Students pursuing a major in Communications and Mass Media are highly encouraged to participate.
