Outstanding performance for the UNYP debating teams

On the 21st February, two teams from UNYP entered the Belgrade Open Debating Tournamant. This was the first time that UNYP had participated in such a prestigious tournament.

The tournament attracts students from across Europe. The debating is in true parlimentary style, with seven rounds of discussions (five of which are scored) and two for the semi-finalists and the finals. The final round was held in the Serbian Naional Assembly. One of UNYP's teams managed to reach the semi-finals, a truly impressive achievement.

Thanks to the contacts made at the tournament, it is hoped that debating workshops given by debating veterans form the UK will soon be held at UNYP. It is also planned to develop additional opportunities so that more students can participate in future international events.
