UNYP Hosts De Paul University LLM Students
A group of 39 law students and three professors from De Paul University College of Law in Chicago were hosted by UNYP from the July 20th to August 13th. The trip was arranged and led by Professor Steven Greenberger, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
De Paul University is the largest Catholic University in the State of Illinois, and the law faculty has produced the largest number of Judges for the State. The current Mayor and his father are both graduates from the University.
The main reason for the visit is that the Bar Association requires that LLM students on overseas study programs complete a program with an international comparative law focus. The students completed two courses in the Prague program this summer, Global Employment Law and Global Business Organizations.
Prague was a great attraction for both the lecturers and the students. While they were in the Czech Republic they visited Brno, the Supreme Administrative Court and a local court where they witnessed a child custody case. While there, they had an opportunity to hear from the judges directly, which was very beneficial in developing their understanding of law in the Czech Republic.
De Paul selected to work with UNYP as the best English language university in the Czech Republic and executed the study abroad program in cooperation with UNYP. UNYP offers its own internationally recognised LLM program and also business law courses in some of its undergraduate programs, and as such De Paul used some of UNYP s law faculty members to give guest lecturers in its study abroad program.
De Paul University is hoping to make this an annual trip, and UNYP would be more than happy to welcome them back. De Paul is planning to develop further enhanced cooperation with UNYP.
