Václav Chvalovský
Chair of the Business Administration Department

C.Sc. (Ph.D.), Czech Academy of Science, Czech Republic

Václav Chvalovský teaches several management classes at UNYP, such as Project Management, Information Management in Business, and Strategic Management. He received a Postgraduate Degree in Economics (CSc.) from the Czech Academy of Science. In addition to teaching, Václav also works as an IT consultant on various projects for local companies and multinational corporations such as Deloitte. Václav has taught in higher education for over 30 years, and has also taught at the University of Economics in Prague and the University of Nairobi in Kenya. He also has extensive professional experience, which includes working as a programmer, IT manager, project manager and sales manager. He has published over 100 professional articles, and is an avid mountaineer.

Kevin Capuder Executive Director, Business Department

Mr. Capuder joined UNYP in 2010 and Economics and Management courses. He is responsible for managing the MBA and undergraduate Business programs. Mr. Capuder's current research area is International Political Economy and the Reform of Monetary Institutions/Financial Regulations. He has held teaching positions and academic positions in the Czech Republic since 1996.
Kevin Capuder earned a B.S. and an M.A. in Economics at San Jose State University in California after studying History at Queens College, CUNY, and working in the computer industry in Silicon Valley for seven years. He has held positions in Europe as a Civic Education Project Fellow and a Jean Monnet Lecturer (EU) in European Economic Integration.

 

Tanweer Ali

Tanweer Ali came to UNYP at the beginning of 2003. He has taught courses in finance and mathematics, both in our bachelors and MBA programs. He is also a mentor with Empire State College, supervising bachelors‘ theses in the business administration major. Tanweer holds an MA degree in mathematics from the University of Oxford as well as the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and FRM (Financial Risk Manager) designations. During his time at UNYP Tanweer served for one year as Department Chair for Business Administration and Mathematics. Before joining UNYP, Tanweer worked for a number of years in insurance, investment banking and consulting both in the United Kingdom and in the Czech Republic. In addition to his teaching work, Tanweer has been active with the CFA Institute in Virginia, serving for several years as an exam grader; he is currently on the institute’s curriculum committee. He also established the Czech CFA Society and was its first president. Tanweer has also served as a board member or advisor for a number of non-profit organizations, especially in the refugee and human rights fields. Tanweer was voted Outstanding Faculty Member by the 2005 graduating class.


Andreas Antonopoulos

Dr. Andreas Antonopoulos holds a Ph.D. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from University College London, UK. He also earned an MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, and a D.Eng from the University of Patras, Greece. He has published numerous business and academic papers, and is a frequent speaker at major conferences and industry events. Before joining UNYP, Dr. Antonopoulos had an 18 year career balancing an academic, industry and entrepreneurial background. He was Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Working Knowledge, a leading telecoms advisory firm and has also spent 5 years teaching Telecom Business & Entrepreneurship, serving as an Associate Professor and Chair of the Technology Management Department, as well as holding the position of Graduate Programs Director, at the CEU Business School of Central European University. He has held a variety of senior and middle management appointments in leading telecom sector companies such as RHK, Lucent Technologies, Nortel Networks and British Telecom, serving in a number of countries worldwide. Dr. Antonopoulos also Co-Founded and sits on the Board of Directors of Marathon Invest, an investment fund focusing in the CEE markets. Having worked and/or lived in Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Greece, Hungary, the Philippines, Romania, Singapore, Spain, UK and the US, and speaking 6 languages, Dr. Antonopoulos brings substantial international and multi-cultural experience to UNYP.

Joseph Beamer

B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Sc. Physics - Indiana University-Bloomington

Before moving to Prague Joseph worked as an undergraduate Mathematics instructor at Indiana University-Bloomington (IUB).  There he also worked as an assistant researcher in Modern Physics, Geology and Environmental Science.  Thus he has a strong background in theoretical Math/Physics as well as a special interest in applied Environmental Science.
Since he came to Prague in 2007 he has taught upper-level Mathematics at two international high schools in Prague, CZ; and is currently working as a Mathematics/Science instructor at two universities in Prague teaching Business Math, General Math, and Environmental Science.

Carlos Davidovich

P Studied Medicine in Argentina, after several years of practice, started working in international pharmaceutical companies focused on Biotechnology. More than 20 years of experience leading teams in Business Management, Marketing, Sales, R&D and Business Development. An expertise which was mainly in the Latin American Region with high participation in HQ projects. In 2002 moved to Europe, living in Prague for almost 2 years and then moved to Spain where his actual permanent address is. At this moment he is working as Executive Coach in Europe and USA; supporting companies in their internal development processes; applying new concepts of NeuroLeadership and NeuroManagement. He also has a degree in Clinical Psychology. Highly experienced in Cross–Cultural environments. And a University degree in Tai Chi Tchuan. He is married and has two sons.

Luc De Ceuster

Luc De Ceuster teaches Operations and Project Management in the BBA and MBA programs. Born in Antwerpen (Belgium) he obtained his master’s degree in Civil and Mechanical Engineering from the Belgian Military Academy. He obtained the Masters Certificate in Project Management in 2001 from the AT&T School of Business and Technology. After his graduation in 1982, he served in the Belgian Corps of Engineers for about 8 years. In 1989 he left the military and accepted the position of professor at the Belgian Aviation School where he has been training Civil Airline pilots for 7 years. In 1996 he left the aviation to return back to civil engineering to become Director of a new environmental division in one of Belgium’s leading concrete factories. In 1999 he became Project Executive and Senior Project Manager in IBM and later in AT&T which he left in May 2006. Since 2008 he is CEO of the company APraCom. He is currently authoring a book on project management, risk management and earned value management. He is also a co-founder of Society Quality Medicine Group, a non-profit organization with the goal of using scientific knowledge to serve society.

Eva  Drdáková

Teaches Legal & Ethical Decision-Making and Negotiation & Conflict Resolution at UNYP. She is a senior member of the Czech diplomatic service with two decades experience in demanding policy- and commercial-related jobs in Europe, Middle East and India. As a head of the Czech diplomatic missions she had to prove on a daily basis her excellent ability to maintain diplomatic relations at a senior level and to ensure representation, communication and management in a complex multicultural environment, as well as capacity to play a lead role in negotiations with national authorities, international organizations or NGO´s. She has developed strong communication and analytical skills combined with sound judgement, strong science background and management and linguistic skills.

Helena Fialová

Dr. Helena Fialová is an instructor in the Business Administration and IEE Departments at UNYP. Dr. Fialová has a PhD in economics from the Prague School of Economics. She is considered an expert in the field. She has worked on numerous research projects, many of which have dealt with macroeconomic forecasting of the Czech Economy. She has been a Visiting Lecturer at universities in Japan, California, Hawaii, Chicago, Belgium and the UK. She has written numerous textbooks on macro- and microeconomics and the business cycle, as well as several dictionaries of business and economic terms in Czech and English. She is continuously publishing academic articles in various scholarly economic journals. Dr. Fialová is a Visiting Faculty at the Prague University of Economics; the Czech Technical University, Faculty of Engineering, and the MBA program at the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies, ČVUT.

Martin Hála

Dr. Martin Hála teaches a large variety of math courses at UNYP such College Algebra, Basic Calculus, Statistics for Business and Economics, and Business Mathematics. He received his Ph.D. in statistics at the Charles University. He also teaches Mathematics and Statistics at the Czech Technical University. In addition to teaching, Martin also works as an actuary at Pension Fund of Komercni banka. He has published numerous articles on mathematics and statistics in various scholarly journals. He has worked on numerous research projects dealing with direct applications of statistics in traffic engineering.

Jaroslav Halík

Dr. Jaroslav Halík has been teaching Operations Management, International Business and Marketing Management in both the BBA and MBA Programs of UNYP. He finished his MSc at Norweigian School of Management Oslo, his MBA at RIT New York, and his Ph.D. at the University of Economics in Prague. Dr. Halík has extensive professional experience having worked as a Business Development Manager, a Marketing Manager and a Sales Director in multinational companies. He is an active consultant in the areas of international business and marketing strategy.

Nick Hauser

Nick Hauser teaches Business Ethics at UNYP. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Houston and his M.S. from Polytechnic University. He has experience as a business consultant and stated up a renewable energy venture. In addition to teaching, Nick is currently the Financial Management Officer/Human Resources Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Prague.  His previous teaching experience includes teaching at Rice University in Houston, Texas.

Anna Higgs

Anna Higgs teaches Career Development and law classes at UNYP. She received her law degree and an advanced law degree (LL.M in Taxation) from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. In addition to teaching, Anna also is a co-owner of D.I.K. Consulting, a business and management consulting firm. Anna worked for many years at Price Waterhouse, both in Prague and in the US, as a senior manager and in other positions in the tax and legal departments. In addition, she has also worked as a law clerk and a senior attorney for over six years in Washington D.C.. Anna also works as a trainer of workshops, seminars and conferences.

Martin Kolmhofer

Martin Kolmhofer is an Austrian national and studied International Business at the University of Innsbruck. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Economy at the University of Linz and started his career in auditing with PriceWaterhouseCoopers.  In 2005 he moved to Prague, where he works for Johnson&Johnson. Martin is also director of CEE PORTAL, an Austria-based business platform for Central and Eastern Europe. Among others he likes soccer, running, mountains and the Austrian school of economic thought.

Vidhu Maggu

Vidhu Maggu is an educationist with multi-cultural work experience ranging from university teaching and academic research, to organizing and conducting workshops for Multi National Corporations.  She possesses several years experience in guiding and managing a small business company; carries International Organizational experience of working for NGO’s, National level Government Institutions as well as commercial organizations. She has presented papers at national and international forums. She is currently engaged in conducting Management workshops for MNC’s and teaching different courses for various Universities (both national and international) in Prague, teaching both Humanity and Business based disciplines.

Jeff Medeiros

B.S, University of California Berkeley – Haas School of Business

Jeff Medeiros teaches e-Commerce along with the Computers and Applications courses at UNYP.    Prior to teaching, Jeff worked in various roles for the IBM Corporation in the Silicon Valley region of Northern California: Application Development, Technical Support, Field Sales and Large Systems Solution Development.  In the mid 90’s, Jeff’s entrepreneurial instincts directed him to start rs-unix, an IBM Premier Business Partner firm providing UNIX solutions to large customers in the Western US.  Customers included Visa, Safeway, Charles Schwab, and eBay. The solutions primarily supported Enterprise applications and Web Infrastructures.  The firm grew rapidly and in 1999 was awarded the prestigious IBM Business Partner of the Year award for North America.  Jeff has participated on a number of Channel Advisory Boards, including IBM, Novell, and Avnet, Inc’s.  He moved to Prague in 2009 to find new challenges leveraging his experience and skills.  In addition to teaching, he consults in IT and continues to participate strategically in a new software venture based in the US.  While not working, Jeff enjoys golfing, cycling and swimming.

Natalie Mikhaylov

Natalie Mikhaylov has been teaching Human Resources management, Organizational behavior and Cross-Cultural management in both the BBA and MBA Programs of UNYP since  2001. She has received her MBA in HRM at Golden Gate University, San Francisco and is currently completing her PhD at Turku University. Ms. Mikhaylov current research areas are cross-cultural competence and organizational learning. Prior to her academic career, she worked in managerial HR positions in California for eight years.


David Muir, MBA

A Canadian who spent most of his formative years in Montréal, he graduated from l’Université de Montréal’s Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC). His M.Sc. is from University of Leicester, which he read for at the Abu Dhabi campus, where he taught, MBA courses for several years. David teaches a number of Finance and Accounting courses at UNYP. Professionally, he has worked in accounting, administration and credit in both banks and private companies over more than 20 years. Before leaving Canada, he was the National Credit Manager for Canada Post’s Retail Operations. He went to Abu Dhabi for nine years to work for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, where he worked as on internal and external funds, as well as human resources. He has been living in Kladno, Czech Republic with his wife since 2002.

Athanassios Pantazopoulos, LL.M, Ph.D.

Dr. Athanassios Pantazopoulos, LL.M. is an instructor of law at UNYP. He received his law degree from the University of Athens, and his LL.M and Ph.D. in International and European Law from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich, Germany. He is an active attorney, admitted in Athens, Munich and the Czech Republic. As an attorney, he specializes in European and international law. Dr. Athanassios Pantazopoulos has a very good command of the English, German and Czech languages.

Anastasia Pattison

Dr. Pattison joined UNYP in 2011. In addition to teaching, Anastasia is a managing partner in Shogun Consulting, a business and marketing consulting firm. Previously she worked as a Production Director in the IT industry and has extensive experience in project management, e-marketing, system implementations and conflict management. Outside of the work environment, Anastasia Pattison is conducting research in cross-cultural psychology and holds a scientific grant from the Russian Foundation for Fundamental research. She has published numerous articles on cross-cultural psychology in various scholarly journals and books.

 

William Pattison

William is a full time faculty and Director of the MBA Programs at UNYP. He specializes in the areas of Marketing, Strategic Business Development and Project Management. William is a veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army where he was Platoon Sergeant and has served in Europe as well as in the USA. He has been decorated seven times for outstanding leadership and going above and beyond the call of duty. William moved to the Czech Republic in 2002 and worked as a business consultant to companies such as Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals and 3M, driving business through developing sales and marketing programs. In 2005 he took a full time position with the 3M company as the country wide Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. He later became a regional project manager for 3M Central & Eastern Europe. Specializing in change management and strategic leadership, he oversaw the modernization of all of 3M's subsidiaries in CEE, CIS & parts of the Middle East. In this position, he has worked in countries such as Turkey, Israel, Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland, Hungary, Romania & Poland. He has been teaching and/or guest lecturing at various Universities and MBA programs in the Czech Republic since 2008.

Pietro Andrea Podda

Pietro was born in Sardinia, Italy and educated in Rome. He studied Political Sciences and specialized, at a Master level, in EU and International Affairs. He was an active member of the group advising the Erasmus Program. After a further post - Master course on EU law he started working in the banking sector as a financial analyst and later, as an investment consultant.

Radim Polcak

Dr. Polcak graduated and later received his doctorate in commercial law from the Faculty of Law, Masaryk University. He is also a visiting lecturer at universities in the Czech Republic, Austria, UK, Netherlands and Hungary. In addition, Dr. Polcak is the general chair of the annual international conference on Cyberspace; editor-in-chief of the Masaryk University Journal of Law and Technology; and a member of editorial boards of legal journals in the Czech Republic and Hungary. He is a panelist at the .eu ADR arbitration court and a member of the Expert Committee on eJustice at the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic.

Douglas H. Pressman

Dr. Douglas H. Pressman has taught in the executive MBA programs of five North American, AACSB-accredited business schools: University of Pittsburgh, University of Calgary, Bowling Green State University, Rider University and DePaul University, with teaching assignments spanning the USA, Germany, China and the Czech Republic. Since 2006 he has been a faculty member at UNYP, teaching Entrepreneurship and Banking in the MBA program, plus Conflict Resolution in the LaSalle MA program, and at the undergraduate level Introduction to Sociology and most recently, Business, Government and Society. Prior to earning his Ph.D. in Development Sociology at Brown University (1993), Dr. Pressman worked for six years with the international division of the Bank of California, where he was responsible for institutional lending and country risk assessment in Latin America and Southeast Asia. Before moving to Prague in 1997, he taught international studies and sociology at Brown University, College of the Holy Cross, and, under a Fulbright grant, at the University of Oregon. Dr. Pressman earned his B.A. degree with honors at Colgate University, and he also holds an MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird). He has taught a broad range of topics at the MBA level, including corporate finance, cross-cultural management, strategic management, international marketing, and entrepreneurship. Between 1997 and 2000 he thrice won the "Best Professor Award" from the MBA graduates at the Czech Management Center. His publications include work on globalization and social change, as well as a popular business case study for Thunderbird on the Czech economic transition of the early 1990s.

Gillian Pritchett

Gillian teaches Business Strategy on the BBA weekend program.
She is an adjunct professor teaching Sector Analysis on the MBA program at HEC Montréal and Strategic Communications on the graduate program at Webster University in Leiden (Netherlands). She teaches her own program, From Business Idea to Launch, on the continuing education programme at McGill University, Canada. She also gives seminars, talks and workshops on social media.
During her lengthy international corporate career Gillian accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge in finance, mergers & acquisitions, business strategies and marketing. She worked in numerous countries and for extended periods in Germany and France. Since 1999 she has divided her time between Canada and Europe.
During the past decade she has worked closely with entrepreneurs launching a new business and with businesses expanding into new markets. Her consulting specialisms are business strategy, marketing, social media, feasibility studies and business planning.
Gillian is fluently bilingual in French and English and works professionally as well as teaching in both languages.

Alex Reidl

Before recently moving to Prague Alex Reidl led a very successful global Marketing/PR & Sales career in the automotive industry with Mercedes-Benz, BMW Group and Volvo Car Corporation. He has been a senior Manager with personnel responsibility for over 10 years. He also runs his own Marketing consultancy business in Prague and also gives corporate trainings and works as Coach. Alex holds a Master’s degree in International Management & Marketing, Organizational behavior & HR Management from a top German university. Having worked and/or lived in Australia, Brazil, Dubai, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, Sweden, UK and the US Alex’ brings a significant experience of intercultural management and marketing experience to UNYP. He currently teaches Organizational behavior & Leadership in the MBA program and Special advanced Marketing in the undergraduate program.


Sharon Richardson

Sharon Richardson, Ph.D., is an energetic, unusual blend of practice and academia.  She has lived, worked, and studied in 6 countries, on 4 continents, and brings deep, global experience in new ventures, innovation, marketing, complex and fast-track projects, small business management, mergers, intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship.  Her Ph.D. in Business Strategy is from London's Sir John Cass School of Business; her MBA with honors is from Berkeley, California; and her Summa Cum Laude BSc in Marketing and Finance is from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.  Prof. Richardson has been invited to present two of her papers at the Academy of Management, from her studies on innovation and knowledge management, using the context of the video games industry and cutting-edge social networking concepts and tools.  She has senior executive, entrepreneurship, board-level, executive coaching, sales and marketing experience across a variety of industries, including technology, hospitality, entertainment, bio-med, viticulture, and non-profit.  At UNYP, Prof. Richardson is available to instruct at the undergraduate, MBA, and corporate education levels.

Chris Shallow

Chris Shallow has more than 20 years marketing management experience in American, British, Czech, German, and Japanese companies, including PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is a full time faculty member of UNYP and teaches the following: advertising, business research (MBA), e-business, e-commerce, e-marketing, globalization, marketing, marketing communications, marketing communications strategy (MBA), marketing research, and advanced marketing.


Dan Šťastný

Dr. Dan Šťastný teaches Economics at UNYP. He received his Ph.D. at the Prague School of Economics. He has also taught International Trade at the International School of Business and Law, as well as at the Prague School of Economics. Since 1998, he has taught at the Liberal Institute Summer University, and currently, he holds the position of Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the School of Economics and Public Administration at the Prague School of Economics. Dr. Šťastný has been a visiting scholar at George Mason University and New York University in the US. He has published numerous articles on economic policy and trade in dozens of scholarly journals. He has also written articles for magazines and newspapers. Dr. Šťastný speaks English and German fluently.

Leigh Ann Stouffer

Leigh Ann Stouffer teaches Introduction to Marketing in the BAA weekend program. She holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BS degree from Northern Illinois University. In addition to teaching, she also runs her own marketing and social media consulting business and works with Candytech s.r.o., a preferred Facebook developer, one of only 12 in the European market. As well, Leigh Ann has been a guest speaker on the subject of Social Media for several organizations in and around Prague. In her work since moving to Prague, she has conducted business in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and Germany. Previous to moving to Prague and the Czech Republic, Ms. Stouffer worked in the U.S. for several consumer products oriented firms in Marketing and New Products Development (Newell Rubbermaid / Springs) and in sales and account management (Unilever). Outside of the work environment, Leigh Ann enjoys music and films.

Mark Tomass

Dr. Mark Tomass is a visiting professor at UNYP's MBA program, where he teaches Financial Markets. He worked as an economics professor for over 20 years. Some of the universities he taught at include Harvard University, Northeastern University, and Babson College in the United States, and Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. He has published numerous articles in economics in various scholarly journals, and has given paper presentations at over 25 universities across the US and Europe.

Claude Varley

With thirty years of managerial experience in industry (Assistant to the Vice-President, Control and Finance, American-Standard, Europe, President of American Hospital Supply Corporation, Benelux, President of Coca-Cola bottling companies in the south of France), concurrent with fifteen years of lecturing and consulting in Accounting, Finance, and Human Resources, Claude Varley is now heavily involved in teaching at several universities and business schools in Europe (IUKB, Switzerland - NYC, Athens, Greece - UNYP, Prague, Czech Republic - UNYT, Tirana, Albania - UNYB, Belgrade, Serbia). He has developed courses and seminars in Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Financial Management, Budgeting, Auditing, Internal Control, and Executive Search. He is a former President of the Board of Directors of the American International School in Nice, of the American Chamber of Commerce Côte d’Azur/Monaco and a former Vice-President of the Monaco Ambassadors Club.

 

Jiří Vicek

Jiri Vicek is joining UNYP as a lecturer of Organizational Behavior. In 2010, he graduated from Tiffin University earning an MBA degree in General Management. Mr. Vicek has extensive professional experience in the area of sales, customer service, and organizational management, as well as ERP information system implementation and customer relations management, all gained in the private sector by holding several managerial posts at production-oriented MNCs in the Czech Republic. Mr. Vicek has also worked as a research assistant at Clemson University economics department, participating in projects on urban development in selected metropolitan areas in the U.S. and providing a helping hand in the research on economic growth cycles.

 

Antonis Zairis

Born in Piraeus in 1961.Studied Political sciences, Public and Business Administration ( Athens Panteion University) . He is candidate for his PHD at the Athens Panteion University. Worked in Sales and Marketing  in multinational and Greek Companies from managerial positions  for the last 25 years.Today he is General Manager in  the Hellenic Retail Business Association.
He has lectured at several Universities in Greece, Chech Republic and USA. Lecturer in Sales Management and Marketing at the Athens University of Economics and Business.He is writting extensively for financial newspapers and leading business magazines. He is a member of the British Institute of Management (M.I.M.) and the Association of Chief Executive Officers (ACEO).Author of  eleven books
