Debating Society

The Debating Society is a student organization that organizes debates, panel discussions, and other activities. The emphasis is often on contemporary political issues.

Tthe Debating Society launched regular weekly mock-up debates, inspired by the British parliamentary style, which provided members of the Society with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the rules and skills relevant for the debate. These efforts resulted in the participation of the UNYP Debating Society members in international debating competitions in Belgrade, Kiev, Tallinn as well as in the Prague Open, an international debating tournament.

Apart from this, the Debating Society also continued organizing lectures with distinguished guests from the diplomatic and non-governmental sectors. In February, the UNYP students had the opportunity to tour the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and participated in an open discussion with a diplomat over the conduct of Czech Foreign Policy.

The tour to the Ministry followed the visit to the German Embassy and a debate with an expert on cyber-terrorism from the Simon Wiesenthal Center in New York.
