Writing Lab
Mission Statement of the Writing Laboratory (WRL) at UNYP
The Writing Laboratory (WRL), located in the second room of the University’s library, is committed to helping students attending the university to become better writers across the academic curriculum. The WRL works with students at undergraduate and graduate levels, and at any stage in the writing process. The WRL is staffed by a trained academic writing instructor, ensuring that the best advice is provided to students.
The writing Lab tutor will guide students to all of the tools available to them in the library that will help them to successfully complete writing assignments. The WRL tutor will not edit or do assignments for students. Rather, the tutor will discuss the best approach to take in order to complete assignments so that students feel more confident about the work they generate for courses.
As English is not the commonly spoken language in the University’s geographical setting, it is believed that students will benefit enormously from having the WRL because it provides students another forum in which students can express themselves in both spoken and written English.
