Michaela Pixová is a human geographer engaging in research, writing, teaching and activism. At UNYP, she teaches Environmental Crisis and Global Sustainability, Cultural Anthropology and World Geography. Her professional and personal interests span across a wide range of socio-spatial themes, particularly those centring around urban space, urban life, and the impacts of human activities on the environment. Currently she is working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Boku University in Vienna, Austria, working with a young international team on a project exploring values-based modes of production and consumption in the corporate food regime. She is currently researching the national food regime and food alternatives in Czechia. Her previous research projects focused on climate activism, urban social movements and citizen participation; alternative spaces and alternative cultures in cities; and housing, social segregation and the “right to the city” concept. She also worked as the coordinator of the Czech Climate Coalition.
