Dagmar Spain

MFA, Tisch School of the Arts, New York University

Schreibhain, school of authors, Berlin

Ms. Spain has investigated the use of language in combination with movements throughout her long performing career.

Her early works incorporated original poetry, songs and monologues and developed into evening length plays and her one woman show “Dialogues with a Plant”. She has received critical acclaim for her work:

Literature, Film and Theater stimulate her imagination as much as movement and structural concerns; she (Dagmar Spain) creates worlds filled with mystery.” (Katia Bachko, The New Yorker)

For Dagmar Spain monologues are a very intimate form of expression and require courage and commitment.

Currently she is completing her first novel based on the choral music by Hildegard von Bingen and works on a historical documentary of post war struggles..
