Iveta Hlouchova, Ph.D. earned her doctorate in Political Science (specifically, Security and Strategic Studies research field) at the Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. She holds her Master's degree from Security and Strategic Studies from the same university. She was awarded a merit stipend of the best graduate student of the faculty for the school year of 2010/2011. Iveta graduated from Program on Terrorism and Security Studies at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in July 2014. In November 2015, she also graduated from the Marshall Center Scholars' Program, being rewarded the title of the MC Scholar, and she has become one of the adjunct professors acting as facilitators for the MC Program on Terrorism and Security Studies Community of Interest event in November 2015, Program on Applied Security Studies in 2016 and 2017, and Seminar on Regional Security in April 2017. Iveta is also an independent course instructor and a security consultant on the issues of various aspects of politically motivated violence. She participated in numerous distinguished conferences and workshops and interned in some prestigious organizations, including the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic. She successfully completed her 6 months long internship at Defense Planning Policy & Analysis Branch of Defense Planning Division at Capability Development Department of the NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) in Norfolk, Virginia, where she was awarded a certificate of commendation by the Assistant Chief of Staff for NATO Defense Planning (DP ACOS) for her performance. In October 2017, Iveta also guest lectured at the US Naval Academy. Her main research areas include privatization of security, proxy wars, child soldiering, terrorism/counter terrorism, insurgency/counterinsurgency (mainly in the AfPak region), hybrid warfare and military strategy and defense policy planning, development and implementation. Most recently, Iveta was awarded a publication grant EDIS by Masaryk University for the best dissertation thesis of the academic year 2016/2017, resulting in the publication of her monograph Czech Approach toward Counterinsurgency.
