Jakub Guziur was conferred the degree of Docent by Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in Film, Television and Photographic Art and New Media – Theory of Film and Multimedia Art for his work on intermediality in popular culture which he defended at FAMU. He also holds a Ph.D. in History and Theory of English and American Literature and Literary Criticism, and a Master’s degree in English Philology, both earned at Palacky University, Olomouc. He has taught academic courses in literature, cultural criticism, film history, literary theory and translation at Palacky University and the University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. He currently teaches Intercultural Communication at UNYP, and assists in overseeing program development and quality to ensure that it meets the standards expected by the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic. Docent Guziur has published several book-length academic studies, mostly on English and American artists and the transformations of the concept of culture in the modern times. With Josef Jařab he co-edited a collection of essays on George Steiner’s Idea of Europe, with Marcel Arbeit a critically acclaimed anthology of post-WWII short-stories by the writers of the American South. He has worked for numerous Czech commercial and non-commercial publishing houses and magazines. His current academic research focuses on the concept of post-culture.
