Jan Samanek studied law at Masaryk University (Mgr. and JUDr.), the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (LL.M.) and the Charles University (Ph.D.). In addition, Jan studied at the Central European University in Budapest and at the Ecole Nationale d’Administration in Strassbourg. 

Jan is an indepent attorney, specialized in Commercial and Company Law.

Jan's professional experience includes work at the Supreme and Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Justice and the international law firm Clifford Chance. Jan has also worked short term for the European Commission and European Court of Justice.  He has advised the Czech Government on various policy issues, e.g. as a consultant to the Ministry of Finance on online gambling, consultant to the Ministry of Culture on Act on Culture, and consultant to the Financial Analytical Unit on money laundering.
