Ninth Annual Student Academic Conference

Empire State College/UNYP students, Michaela Matejckova and Petra Rieger, present at Empire State College’s 2013 Student Academic Conference, held in Queens, New York, October 18th and 19th.

This ESC-sponsored event  showcases the scholarly achievements of  students and exposes them to their peers in a academically stimulating cross cultural experience.    In the past, international students have stolen the show, impressing all with their presentations ranging from Ottoman historical studies, to marketing plans for businesses in emerging markets.  This year, Prague was strongly represented with Miss. Matejckova and Mr. Rieger’s presentation on  Is the Czech Republic A Competitor of Silicon Valley.     Not only did they bring the voice of the Czech Republic to the United States but provided a stimulating opportunity for a lively discussion on the part of students and faculty from throughout the college.

The Student Academic Conference brings together students from all geographic and academic areas of the college to share and learn from one another.   It seeks to provide an arena for developing community among our students and provide a form for presenting creative and inspiring accomplishments of an academic nature.   Next years Conference will be held in Albany, New York.  We hope we will see more of our students.
