Prague: one of Conde Nast Traveler’s 50 Most Beautiful Cities In The World

Are you considering study abroad in Prague? Have you already discussed it with your family? For centuries, Prague has been known for its vibrant cultural heritage and unique charm. Over the past decade, Prague has been ranked in hundreds if not thousands of listings as one of the best, safest and most convenient cities for living. Most recently, Prague was listed as one of the 50 Most Beautiful Cities in the World by luxury and lifestyle magazine Conde Nast Traveler.

Can you imagine what it would be like to live and study in such a unique European city? Beloved for its welcoming atmosphere and fascinating history, Prague is beautiful in all seasons. The integral complex of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings, the narrow alleys and old street lamps give you an impression of traveling back in time. You will experience history around every corner; Prague is a city that perfectly blends its past with its present. More contemporary architectural constructions come from the Communist era, as well as gleaming 21st-century additions to the cityscape. In addition to its beautiful architecture, cobblestoned Old Town, and 9th-century hilltop castle keeping watch over the city, Prague also happens to be one of the greenest capitals in Europe. In fact, in 2018, the Dutch holiday agency TravelBird named Prague the World’s Greenest City! These rankings are based on the percentage of green space within the total area of the city, with 56.74% of the city rated green. Beautifully designed public parks and gardens offer plenty of space for summer picnics and refreshing winter walks, not to mention some of the most breathtaking views the city has to offer.

Prague – the most beautiful city for your semester abroad!

But what other reasons are there to choose Prague as your semester abroad destination?

From a Study Abroad student perspective, Prague’s advantages include highly reasonable prices for food and accommodation and easy access to many other fascinating European cities and countries during your semester at UNYP. Another big plus, you do not need a car! With the Metro, trams, buses, and your own feet, you can get anywhere you want in no time. The efficiency of Prague’s public transportation system makes the city an ideal place to study abroad.

You could easily spend an entire semester in Prague just exploring the museums and cultural sites. From the classic and recently renovated National Museum and the National Gallery to the newer Trade Fair Palace and Museum Kampa, there is a museum for every taste and interest.  The excellent news is the city of Prague makes these museums accessible to students, with discounts for student ID holders. In addition to the museums and galleries, there is a wealth of other things to explore in Prague for next to nothing. There are a multitude of pop-up markets, offering a variety of hand-made locally designed items, and food too! If you like theater and classical music, you will be pleased to know that most venues have a decent number of affordable seats for each performance, so you can afford to see a lot of shows on a student budget

Of course, this isn’t a full list of all the reasons why you can’t miss out on Study Abroad program at the University of New York in Prague, but we hope you can see that Prague’s fabled beauty is not the only reason to consider coming here as a part of your college experience.
