Sotiris Foutsis to the Class of 2020

On behalf of the University of New York in Prague family, I extend sincere congratulations and best of luck to the Class of 2020!

You have been exceptional representatives of the UNYP community, and I am confident that you will continue to serve as valuable ambassadors of our university by building upon our reputation for excellence. As you start and progress through your careers, I urge you always to remember why you chose your respective fields, and the challenges that you endured over the years to make it happen: to become tomorrow’s leaders and serve our communities with knowledge and integrity.

Over the last few months, you have shown your adaptability when UNYP had to close under the Czech State of Emergency to protect our students, staff, and faculty. When we had to move to virtual instruction, you did what you needed to do to make it to graduation. By taking these steps, you showed strength of character and resilience – and most importantly, hope for our shared future. No matter what comes next, please know that your hard work and dedication have already produced results, and they will continue to produce results as you begin your international career paths. Over the past few years, you have completed an academic degree that will become a passport to your successful future. You faced an impressive number of exams, essays, research projects, and assignments. You became more experienced, more mature, and capable of handling the often unforeseeable challenges that life throws our way. 

Courage and persistence are part of UNYP’s DNA. We are proud of your willpower and determination, and want you to remember that you have a reliable support system behind you, from family and friends to UNYP professors, mentors, and classmates – who helped you to reach your goal and achieve your respective degrees. Be grateful for having these amazing people in your corner who will be there for you in the years to come. There is a long road ahead for all of you after graduation, but our community has overcome many challenges before, and we will do so again. I hope that one day you will look back at how you confronted with these unusual times and remember your resilience.
