Spring Date Ideas in Prague

“I want to do with you what Spring does with the cherry trees” – Pablo Neruda

Spring is blooming as well as love. I think that you must have heard this cliche many times before. Although the connection of love and Spring is a repeatedly discussed topic, we can agree that there must be some truth about it. So take a chance with this beautiful weather and take your beloved half or dating partner out.

Zoo

We loved zoos when we were kids so why don’t you take your dating partner to the place where many fun days have started. Once you have seen penguins, lions and monkeys, the botanical garden and butterfly house is a five minute walk away. The animal which you definitely cannot miss is the first Czech-born lowland gorilla named Moja. Zoo tickets cost 150 CZK or 100 CZK for students. Take the metro to Holešovice and then bus 112 to the Zoo.

Petřín Lookout Tower

Petřín Tower is one of the most significant landmarks of Prague. The tower was built as part of the Jubilee Exhibition in 1891 as a loose copy inspired by the Eiffel Tower. It is 63.5 metres high, and 299 steps lead to its peak. It offers a breathtaking view on Prague and surroundings. The entry fee for an adult is 120 CZK, for students it costs 65 CZK which is quite a price in exchange for the beautiful Prague panorama. In order to get there, you can use the tram to station Újezd and then Petřín’s funicular which will take you up to the tower. However, the tower is not the only interesting place around. You may also visit Mirror Maze and Petřín Gardens.

Divoká Šárka

If you have more time and long walks are not a problem for you, definitely visit Divoká Šárka’s lunar landscape. The advantage of this place is that you can get there without leaving the city. Moreover, you can even swim in the reservoir and get refreshed in the summer days. The nearest restaurant is McDonald’s, so not really an exciting food experience, therefore, you should pack a picnic and have a romantic meal. To get there, take the metro to Nádraží Veleslavín and from there, catch tram 20 or 26 to the Divoká Šárka stop.

Boat-trip on the Vltava

Pedalos, rowing boats and dinghies in shape of swans are available for lend from Slovanský ostrov, known as Žofin, which is located near Národní Divadlo. Prices are around 200 CZK per boat per hour. Boat-trips or pedalos are very good in warm days. It may be a way to escape from the busy city for a while and observe Charles Bridge from a different perspective. According to river cruises, they last between 1 to 5 hours. Most cruise-boats have a bar and some serve dinner or play live music. There are also night cruises, coffee-and-cake cruises, and a Jazz Boat.
