Top 3 things to do while you’re studying in Prague this summer

After a long, arduous winter, summer has finally emerged. The leaves are green, flowers are in bloom, outdoor patios are open, and residents and tourists, alike, are eager to feel the sunshine against their skin. While you’re studying this summer, why not make the most of what Prague has to offer? Here are our top 3 hot (and inexpensive) activities to do under the sun:

1. Relax in the gardens

It’s pretty obvious that you should soak up the rays while you can. Luckily, Prague is brimming with beautiful parks and beer gardens all over the city.  The  gardens at Letna, Vysehrad, and Riegrovy sady are Prague favorites, filled with visitors of all ages.  Enjoy a day outside with some friends, a malinovka (raspberry soda) , and a sausage straight from the grill.

Kampa is another popular choice if you’d like to sunbathe or sit directly on the grass.  And if you just can’t take the heat, Mlýnská kavárna (Mill Café) is just around the corner for your eating and drinking pleasure, in the shade.

Do you want to spend a day away from the crowded cobblestone streets? Divoká Šárka is well worth the trek.  This park, located near the Vaclav Havel Airport, contains a gorge for nature enthusiasts to admire.  And for those scorching hot days, visitors can swim in lake Džbán, or The Pitcher, on the border of the park.  Don’t worry! The Pitcher is filled with fresh spring water, flowing from the Šarka Creek.

2. Float down the Vltava

There are many options for boat fun on the Vltava River.  If you haven’t yet done any sightseeing, with a view from the river, you can buy a ticket for a ride on one of the enormous passenger ships.  Many of these ships provide dinner, refreshments and music.

For eating and partying with friends, you have the option to rent a PARTY-GRILL-BOAT.  Barbecue your lunch or dinner directly on the Vltava on your own floating grill boat. These are topped with an umbrella for those who easily burn.

If you want something a little more low key, the paddle boats are a great choice. Most paddle boats seat up to six people and take minimal effort get around the island. Plus, what could be more romantic than seeing Prague at dusk from the river ?

3. Cinema under the stars

Now you must be thinking that you can attend the cinema all-year long.  However, there are various cinemas in Prague where you can spend your evenings watching films outside.  Výletní kino is located in Smichov by the Vltavská River bank.  They are equipped with FatBoy™ bean bags and a fully loaded bar.

MeetFactory has a Letní kino, or Summer Cinema that plays movies during the night. You may also be interested in the galleries, performance theater, music and workshops the MeetFactory showcases.

Žluté lázně is a manmade beach on the Vltava River.  They also provide a summer cinema, drinks, sports grounds, such as beach volleyball, and fun in the water.
