UNYP announces TOP 5 nominees for Alumni of the Year 2019

The University of New York in Prague has always been extremely proud of our Alumni. We created the Alumni of the Year Award to acknowledge and reward an alumnus or alumna and their achievements. UNYP’s Alumni continue to change the world for the better, and UNYP believes that acknowledging and rewarding these efforts is the right way forward. In the words of our General Manager, Sotiris Foutsis: “The University of New York in Prague is truly a product created and perfected by the quality of our Alumni. All of our graduates go out into the world as UNYP ambassadors, and many have consistently shown themselves to be shining beacons giving their light to their communities and professions, and even giving back to current UNYP students.”

UNYP is thrilled to announce the TOP 5 nominees for this year 2019:

Jeffrey  Alan  Medeiros
Class of 2012 – Master of Business Administration

Jeff is always keen to share his experiences, and with this in mind, he continues to pass down his professional wisdom by teaching several courses at UNYP. Jeff lives by the motto “If I can do it, anyone can,” which he believes is a message that needs to be presented to students in order to help them find their own success.

Jeff is the co-founder of Keastone, which is working towards developing an All-In-One software platform to help bring sanity to what has become a chaotic digital world.

Juwana  Jenkins
Class of 2013 – MA in Professional and Business Communication

With over 25 years’ experience, Juwana Jenkins is frequently requested to speak in, facilitate and design programs in the areas of communication, leadership development and personal growth. Juwana has a strong track record in coaching people to achieve their personal and professional goals, teaching at numerous universities and working in executive positions with companies and non-profit organizations in Europe, North America and Asia. Throughout her career, Juwana has supported students, not only as an instructor, but also as a manager for an international M.A. in Second Language Learning and Teaching program.

Daniela Merglová
Class of 2008 – Business Administration

Daniela has always been a proud and excellent UNYP student, serving as Vice President on the Student Council, winning an essay competition to participate in a study-abroad program, and speaking at the 2008 Graduation Ceremony. Throughout her corporate career at PwC and SAP, Daniela continued to avidly promote the school. In addition to excelling in her international career, Daniela places high importance on giving back to the community, and to advising and supporting former alumni. The vast and vibrant network of UNYP alumni contacts provided Daniela with ongoing professional advice and consultancy that has proven vital for her in founding and running her own business. Going forward, Daniela is committed to contributing to UNYP’s good reputation and future success. 

Amit Grinvald
Class of 2016 – Business Administration

Amit has continued to take an active role in the UNYP community after his graduation. He is a former member (and indeed, former President) of UNYP Student Council, one of the faces of UNYP’s WE ARE campaign and an initiator and a co-organizer of TEDxUNYP events. 

After graduation, Amit started to work for Keastone, a company co-founded by UNYP alumnus and professor Jeffrey  Alan  Medeiros, where he currently holds the position of Operations and Accounting Manager across its international presence in the US, Europe and India.

Danai  Baouraki
Class of 2016 – Communication & Mass Media and Psychology

Danai has maintained a close relationship with UNYP since graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 2016. She has consistently represented UNYP at university fairs, participated as a member of Student Council (Vice-President position) and organized MUNYP conferences, as well as the 3rd International High School Model United Nations Conference for 70 people. In 2018, Danai began what is promising to be a very successful campaign at Unilever. She is a prime example of a proud, smart and hard-working alumna.
