UNYP Celebrates 15 Years of Academic Excellence

Prague, June 27^th, 2013 – At the University of New York in Prague (UNYP), we are proud of our history, and the continual strides forward we have achieved in establishing ourselves as a top American-style College in English language education in Central and Eastern Europe. UNYP was established in April 1998 in cooperation with the State University of New York at New Paltz, and the State University of New York, Empire State College (www.esc.edu). In 2013, after many years of growth, our team of  educators and professionals is proud to announce that our life-long learning Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) and European Bachelor’s in Business Administration programs have earned independent American accreditation by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE, www.iacbe.org). 

2001: The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports accredits the first UNYP bachelor programs, which have been reaccredited every four years since (MŠMT, www.msmt.cz). 

2001: The British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education (BAC) accredits UNYP as an institution providing higher education (www.the-bac.org).

2002: UNYP begins to offer a life-long learning Master’s degree program in communications in partnership with La Salle University Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (www.lasalle.edu).

2004: UNYP begins to offer a life-long learning Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) in partnership with the Institut  Universitaire Kurt Bösch (IUKB) in Switzerland (www.business.iukb.ch). This program is also accredited in 2004 by the Czech Association of MBAs (CAMBAS, www.cambas.cz) as a program of life-long learning in the Czech Republic. 

2005: UNYP becomes a member of AACSB International, the premier international Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. “AACSB International is a membership association of educational institutions, business, not-for-profit and government organizations devoted to the advancement of higher education in business administration and management. Membership does not imply accreditation” (www.aacsb.edu).

2009: UNYP adds a partnership with the University of Greenwich in London (http://www2.gre.ac.uk/), which has an international reputation in the provision of both Undergraduate and Graduate degree programs.  In cooperation with the University of Greenwich in London UNYP offers LL.M in International and Commercial Law.

2009: UNYP adds a partnership with the University of Bolton in the UK (http://www.bolton.ac.uk/Home.aspx), which offers a wide range of graduate and post graduate degree programs, and is world famous for their extensive research centre. In cooperation with the University of Bolton UNYP offers a Ph.D by publication in a wide variety of academic areas.

2009: UNYP begins to offer its own life-long learning Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) degree to students pursuing our MBA partner programs. This degree is now fully accredited by the IACBE. 

2009: In cooperation with La Salle University in Philadelphia (www.lasalle.edu), UNYP starts to offer a life-long learning Master program in Clinical-Counseling Psychology.

2010: The Psychology department receives local accreditation from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport in the Czech Republic (MŠMT, www.msmt.cz). 

2010: UNYP becomes a member of CEEMAN – Central and East European Management Development Association, the largest association of business education providers in Central and Eastern Europe (www.ceeman.org).

2011: UNYP becomes a candidate for accreditation of the Association of MBAs. AMBA is the international impartial authority on
postgraduate business education and was founded in 1967. AMBA is one of the leading accreditation agencies for postgraduate  business education and their accreditation service is the global standard for all MBA, DBA and MBM programs (www.mbaworld.com/accreditation).

2012: The Business Administration Department at UNYP becomes a candidate for accreditation by The International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE, www.iacbe.org).

2013: UNYP’s European Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA) and life-long learning Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degrees are accredited by The International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE, www.iacbe.org).

In a few short years UNYP has made itself known for offering high quality educational programs by providing a strong foundation in the liberal arts and professional majors with a cross-cultural and international perspective. Today, over 700 students from over 65 countries are learning together and interacting with an international group of instructors. UNYP is proud of its accomplishments and its ability to blend the rich academic history of the Czech Republic with American and European higher education.  Our team of educators and professionals here at UNYP now turn to look toward a bright future of continual development and successes in the years to come.
