UNYP students visit Amazon Czech Republic

Last month, a group of the University of New York in Prague students visited Amazon’s office in the Czech Republic. This field trip was organized by UNYP’s instructor Jeff Medeiros

Thirty-five students participated in a 2-hour tour of the facilities and were introduced to Amazon’s additional businesses, such as Amazon Web Services and Fulfillment by Amazon. Our students found out how to leverage Amazon’s vast platform and information systems infrastructure, providing all computing needs, from servers and storage in the cloud to Artificial Intelligence, and learned how to use Amazon’s retail and distribution network for their potential businesses.

“There is a lot to consider from this experience. Some will see it as a huge warehouse and distribution center. Others may look more closely at how a person who was selling books and CDs out of his garage found the opportunity to turn it into a multi-billion retail giant with global reach. Amazon also may be viewed as one of many companies where a smart group of people, driven by a great leader, applied basic principles of business across multiple offerings (Amazon.com, Amazon Web Services, Fulfillment By Amazon).” said Professor Jeff Medeiros (Lecturer of e-Commerce, Information Systems, Computers and Applications at UNYP).
