Business Degrees on the Rise for 2017

Getting a diploma is a vital part of most careers these days, and University of New York in Prague is preparing students for a competitive job market. You might’ve heard that science, technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) degrees are in demand, but business is also a smart choice, according to a recent report by Forbes. Luckily, UNYP provides a top-notch education when it comes to business.

Every year, the magazine’s editorial staff turns to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), a Pennsylvania non-profit that surveys big companies like Procter & Gamble and Sears, to find out what degrees those companies will be hiring for the upcoming year.

While in the past, computer science and engineering degrees have occupied the top spots, this year business is making a comeback. Here’s a look at the UNYP degrees that could land you a spot at a large corporation.

Masters in Business Administration (MBA)

In the past, the top slots on Forbes’ list usually go to computer science, engineering or technology degrees, but not in 2017. Instead, NACE reported that an MBA will be the most sought after degree this year.

UNYP’s MBA program offers concentrations in ManagementEntrepreneurshipFinanceMarketing and Project Management, some of which you’ll see further down on this list. MBA students get the chance to learn from real senior executives at major companies such as Coca-Cola, Volkswagen and 3M, and get access to a vast alumni network. If you’re not convinced an MBA is right for you, you can always look at the numbers: UNYP graduates tend to be promoted within eight months of attaining their degrees and earn 46 percent higher salaries than their non-MBA counterparts within three years.

Finance (Bachelor’s Degree)

The second spot on the list was for Finance degrees. With all those new tech businesses popping up every year, it’s no wonder those companies need banking people to tend to their books. UNYP’s three-year Finance program offers several specialized courses that students take in their last year of study. These include risk management, international trade and finance, commercial banking, investment analysis and portfolio management and international money and banking.

IT Management (Bachelor’s Degree)

NACE put Management Information Systems in seventh place for 2017. UNYP’s IT Management Bachelor’s degree offers a perfect blend of business management skills and technology and prepares graduates for entry-level positions in the global business and public sectors. Students learn about IT architecture and strategies for their deployment, as well as software programming and management skills.

Marketing (Bachelor’s Degree)

Ranking just under IT degrees is Marketing, an essential to all good business. UNYP offers both a Bachelor’s degree and an MBA concentration in Marketing. The Bachelor’s program offers specialized courses in public relations principles, e-commerce and technology, advertising and marketing strategies. The MBA focuses on consumer behavior, marketing research and brand management.
