Our Roots: History and Academic Tradition

Founded in 1998, UNYP began as an academic partner of the State University of New York, Empire State College. From the start, our goal was to offer international university programs in Prague built on academic excellence and global accessibility.

Over the years, UNYP has become the largest and most respected English-language higher education institution in the Czech Republic, attracting students from more than 80 countries. Our alumni lead careers worldwide, advancing business, communication, psychology, law, technology, and beyond.

2023–2024: Global Recognition and Strategic Partnerships

• Recognized as a Top 10 institution in Europe based on student reviews (EDUopinions survey)
• Named a Top Rated Degree Abroad Provider by GoAbroad.
• Established partnerships with Inteli (Brazil) and the Recruitment Academy Awards.
• Psychology students earned recognition in the International Student Psychology Days in Bratislava in 2025

2021–2022: Enhancing Student Experience and Flexibility

• Held the largest graduation ceremony in UNYP history at Obecní dům, Prague.

2019–2020: Strengthening Resilience and Academic Innovation

• Increased enrollment from 60+ countries.
• Transitioned to fully online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Launched blockchain-secured diplomas.
• Earned the Czech Superbrands Award for the fourth consecutive year.

2015–2018: Leadership in Accredited International Programs

• First Czech university to offer MŠMT-registered American bachelor’s degrees.
• Gained 10-year national accreditation for the Communication and Media Studies program.
• M.A. in Psychology accredited by MŠMT, allowing graduates to earn the “Magister” title.

2010–2014: Expanding Business Education and International Affiliations

• IACBE accredits business programs (BBA and MBA).
• Launched M.Sc. in International Management in partnership with the University of Bolton.
• Joined CEEMAN, boosting leadership in management development.

2005–2009: Broadening Legal and Graduate Offerings

• Introduced the LL.M. in International and Commercial Law at the University of Greenwich.
• Established an MBA program accredited by IACBE.
• Initiated doctoral programs with the University of Bolton.

2002–2004: Advancing Global Recognition and Program Expansion

• Introduced a Master’s in Communications with La Salle University.
• Offered a European-accredited MBA with IUKB.
• Gained AACSB membership and ACCA recognition in business and finance.

1998–2001: Building Academic Foundations

• Accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC).
• Began delivering American degrees through SUNY partnerships.
