UNYP Psychology Bachelor’s Program Earns Reaccreditation

Jana Ter-Akopow Čemusová, Dean of the Department of Psychology, UNYP shares her point of view of the reaccreditation of UNYP's Bachelor's of Psychology program

Accreditation Confirms High Academic Standards

The University of New York in Prague (UNYP) announces that its Bachelor’s program in Psychology has successfully earned reaccreditation from the National Accreditation Office for Higher Education. This outcome confirms that the program continues to meet nationally defined standards for quality, structure, and academic rigor.

Accreditation is a key quality assurance process in higher education. It evaluates curriculum design, faculty qualifications, learning outcomes, and student support. Reaccreditation signals that a program not only meets these standards but also maintains them over time.

What Reaccreditation Means for Students

For current and prospective students, reaccreditation offers clear, tangible benefits.

It confirms the academic quality of the program and ensures that teaching aligns with recognised standards in psychological education. It also supports the formal recognition of the degree, which is essential for further study and professional development in psychology and related fields.

“This confirmation demonstrates that our students are establishing a solid foundation for their futures. It proves that our teaching meets the standards that truly matter,” says Jana Ter-Akopow Čemusová, Dean of the Department of Psychology at UNYP.

Leadership Perspective on Quality and Program Direction

Reaccreditation also creates space for reflection and development. It enables academic leadership to assess how the program addresses student needs and prepares graduates for practical application.

According to Marek Preiss, Program Guarantor of the Psychology Bachelor’s program at UNYP, “Reaccreditation enables us to reflect on the program’s direction and how we meet our students’ needs. It’s about preparing them with the knowledge and skills to succeed in real-world practice.”

Psychology requires a strong foundation in research methods, ethical understanding, and critical thinking. Reaccreditation confirms that the program continues to deliver these competencies in line with professional and academic expectations.

Ongoing Commitment to Excellence

Reaccreditation is not a final milestone but part of a continuous quality process. UNYP remains committed to developing its Bachelor’s program in Psychology in response to advances in psychological science and evolving professional standards.

Through this ongoing commitment, UNYP reinforces its focus on academic integrity, student success, and high-quality education with long-term value.
