UNYP Faculty at Davos: Behind the Scenes of WEF 2026

At UNYP, our faculty are more than educators—they are active participants in global events. Recently, UNYP lecturer and professional photographer Vaiva Bezhan traveled to Davos for the World Economic Forum 2026, capturing the reality behind one of the world’s most influential gatherings.

Working for a firm facilitating high-level, closed-door discussions between world leaders, Vaiva experienced a side of Davos rarely seen in the media.

Key Observations from the Ground

  • The “Hollywood” of Politics: During WEF week, Davos transforms from a quiet alpine town into a bustling global hub. “It feels a bit like Hollywood,” Vaiva notes, “except instead of movie stars, you find yourself walking past presidents and top diplomats at every corner.”
  • Beyond the Congress Centre: While the media focuses on official venues, much of the Forum’s real work happens in private chalets and temporary pavilions scattered throughout the town.
  • The Art of the Image: To navigate the “visual chaos” of heavy security and crowds, Vaiva utilized the soft light of the “golden hour” and a Leica Q2 to create an intimate narrative of this high-intensity environment.

“Photographing Davos was challenging… I often shoot about an hour before sunset, when the light softens, to isolate moments in the busy environment and create a more intimate visual narrative.” — Vaiva Bezhan

This experience highlights how UNYP faculty bridge the gap between academic theory and high-level professional practice, bringing real-world insights back to our classrooms.
