Students from the University of New York in Prague (UNYP) recently demonstrated outstanding academic achievement at the 2nd annual SVOČ (Studentská vědecká a odborná činnost) Psychology Research Competition, held at UNYP in Prague.
The event highlights the research excellence of psychology students and provides an opportunity for them to present original academic work in faculty evaluators and the wider academic community.
This year’s competition recognized two exceptional student researchers:
🥇 1st Place – Jana Srdanov
The Coefficient of Internationality: A Novel Predictor of Well-Being in the International Student Transition
🥈 2nd Place – Maria Mormocea
Neural Disintegration of the Self: Default Mode Network Disruption in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and Psychedelic States
The evaluation board consisted of David Levčík and Kateřina Azim Aburas, faculty members of the UNYP School of Psychology. Their evaluation focused on research quality, originality, and the clarity of students’ presentations.
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by Vice Rector Harrison James and concluded with Lea Jakob, Research Lead of the School of Psychology, presenting certificates and financial prizes to the winners.
Both winning students will represent the University of New York in Prague at the International Psychology Days (Mezinárodní studentské psychologické dny – MSPD), taking place on April 23–24 at the University of South Bohemia (Jihočeská univerzita) in České Budějovice.
UNYP students achieved remarkable success at this international academic competition last year, earning 1st and 2nd place among students from multiple universities, further strengthening the university’s reputation for academic excellence in psychology.
Events such as the SVOČ psychology research competition at UNYP reflect the university’s commitment to supporting student research, academic development, and opportunities for students to present their work at international academic conferences.
