On February 24, the University of New York in Prague hosted a timely and insightful discussion. The event examined the early foreign policy decisions of the new U.S. administration. It also considered their potential implications for Czechia and the European Union.
The event brought together two leading Czech experts in international affairs, Petr Kolář and Tomáš Klvaňa. Both offered informed perspectives on the administration’s initial policy moves and its key announcements. Moreover, they discussed the strategic options facing European countries in response.
The discussion addressed a range of pressing issues, including the future role of NATO within the evolving security environment. It highlighted the importance of enhanced defense cooperation among EU member states. Additionally, it considered the prospects for developing a more cohesive European defense strategy. Particular attention was paid to President Trump’s approach to global politics and the possible consequences for transatlantic relations.
