University of New York in Prague Mourns the Passing of Professor Radek Ptáček

It is with deep sadness that the University of New York in Prague (UNYP) announces the passing of Professor Radek Ptáček, a respected scholar and a beloved member of our academic community. Professor Ptáček leaves behind an enduring legacy of excellence in education, research, and mentorship, having profoundly influenced students, colleagues, and the wider field of psychology.

Professor Ptáček joined UNYP in 2011 and served the university with dedication and integrity until this year. Over more than a decade, he became a central figure in the development of psychology at UNYP, widely recognized for his outstanding academic work, engaging teaching style, and genuine care for his students. His commitment to academic rigor was matched by his empathy and support for those he taught.

“Professor Ptáček was more than a colleague; he was a guiding presence within our university,” said Andreas Antonopoulos, Rector of UNYP. “His passion for psychology and his dedication to students and scholarship were exceptional. He leaves a lasting mark on our institution and will be deeply missed.”

Beyond his work at the university, Professor Ptáček was actively involved in bringing psychological topics into public discourse. He was known for addressing complex and sensitive issues with clarity, responsibility, and compassion, helping to raise awareness and understanding within society. His lifelong effort to promote empathy, understanding, and mental well-being remains an important part of his legacy.

The UNYP community extends its deepest condolences to Professor Ptáček’s family, friends, colleagues, and students. We mourn his passing while honoring the profound impact he had at UNYP, Charles University, and within Czech society. His contributions to psychology and education will continue to inspire future generations.
