Andreas Antonopoulos, M.Eng., MBA, Ph.D.
Who are we?
Dr. Andreas Antonopoulos is the Rector of UNYP and teaches Entrepreneurship in its MBA Program. He holds a Ph.D. in electrical and electronics engineering from University College London, UK, where he has been teaching as an adjunct professor since 1998. He also has an MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, and a D.Eng from the University of Patras, Greece. He has published numerous business and academic papers, and is a frequent speaker at major conferences and industry events. Dr. Antonopoulos’s 22-year career has been marked by academic, industrial and entrepreneurial achievements.
He was a co-founder and the managing partner of Working Knowledge, a leading telecoms advisory firm, and spent five years teaching telecom business and entrepreneurship at the CEU Business School of Central European University. In this capacity, he served as an associate professor and the chair of the Technology Management Department, and also held the position of Graduate Programs Director. Dr. Antonopoulos has held a variety of senior and middle management appointments around the world in leading telecom sector companies such as RHK, Lucent Technologies, Nortel Networks and British Telecom. Dr. Antonopoulos also co-founded Marathon Invest, an investment fund focusing in the CEE markets.
He is on the boards of Marathon Invest and Viva Credit, an online financial services firm, and has provided professional services to six start-ups since 2001. Dr. Antonopoulos speaks six languages and has lived and worked in Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Greece, Hungary, the Philippines, Romania, Singapore, Spain, the UK and the US. This international and multicultural experience has stood him in good stead at UNYP.
What do we do at UNYP?
The Rector’s Office oversees all academic activities of the University of New York in Prague and coordinates the delivery of all of our programs. It provides guidance to all academic departments and is responsible for ensuring the outstanding academic quality and excellence of all programs offered by the institution. The Rector’s Office also develops policies and processes to ensure the ongoing improvement of UNYP’s academic offerings, and is responsible for all accreditations of UNYP and its programs.
The Rector’s Office works with the rest of UNYP’s management to shape the institution's growth strategy and manage its ongoing development. Last but not least, the Rector’s Office supervises UNYP’s relations with the rest of the academic community, both within the Czech Republic and internationally.
