Dr. Jusić holds a Ph.D. from the Institute for Media and Communication Studies, University of Vienna, Austria; an MBA degree and an MA degree in political science, both from the Central European University (CEU), Budapest, Hungary; and a BA degree in journalism from the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since 2019 he is a full-time lecturer at University of New York in Prague, and since 2023 also works as a Head of Central Europe Program at the the Prague Civil Society Center, focusing on the provision of financial and technical support to independent media in the region of Central Europe. He was a co-founder, a managing director, and a senior research fellow at the Center for Social Research Analitika (2010-2020), an independent think tank based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a non-resident fellow at the Center for Media, Data and Society (CMDS), Central European University (CEU) in Budapest, Hungary (2009-2017). From 2009 until 2013, he worked as Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Sarajevo School of Science and Technology, teaching a course Media and Politics within a program co-accredited with the University of Buckingham, UK. From 2009 until 2012, he was a guest lecturer at the European Regional Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democracy in Southeast Europe (ERMA) of the Center for Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies at the University of Sarajevo. Dr. Jusić has also worked as a researcher, executive director, and program director at Mediacentar Sarajevo from 2002 until 2011. He has participated in a number of international research projects, including The Prospect and Development of Public Service Media: Comparative Study of PSB Development in Western Balkans in Light of EU Integration, implemented by the University Fribourg, Switzerland and the Center for Social Research Analitika and funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (2014-2016); Development of Functional Media Institutions in Western Balkans, implemented by a consortium of research centers led by the Center for Social Research Analitika and funded by the Swiss Development and Cooperation – SDC (2012-2013); and ‘Spinning’ out of Control: Rhetoric and Violent Conflict. Representations of ‘Self’ – ‘Other’ in the Yugoslav Successor States, implemented by the University of Oslo, Mediacentar Sarajevo and the University of Belgrade, and funded by the Research Council of Norway (2006-2010). In addition, Dr. Jusić has been engaged in various consultancy projects, primarily focusing on issues of development of strategic planning and strategic communication capacities in public institutions and NGOs. His interests are in the areas of media and democratization; international media assistance; and strategic communication. He has published a number of academic papers and policy reports and has edited several books dealing with the development of media in the region of Southeast Europe. His most recent publications include an edited volume, 'Media Constrained by Context: International Assistance and the Transition to Democratic Media in the Western Balkans', prepared together with Kristina Irion (Central European University Press, 2018); an edited volume Up in the Air? The Future of Public Service Media in the Western Balkans, co-edited with Manuel Puppis, Laia Castro Herrero, and Davor Marko (Central European University Press, 2021); and a monograph 'Media Law in Bosnia & Herzegovina', co-authored with Sanela Hodžić (Wolters Kluwer, 2021).
