Natalie Bergmann

Natalie Bergmann is a lecturer in Current Topics in General Psychology at the Psychology Academic Program, UNYP, and a psychologist and researcher at the National Institute of Mental Health. She earned an MSc in Developmental Science from the University of Edinburgh and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Lincoln.

Her teaching focuses on developmental psychology and neuropsychology, with an emphasis on brain development across the lifespan and its links to cognition and mental health. In her research, she explores developmental changes in cognitive control, the role of childhood trauma in mental illness, neurosteroids and inflammation in schizophrenia, and the potential of digital interventions. She also has a growing interest in genetics and ageing.

Bergmann has international research and clinical experience, including placements at CEITEC, the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, and other institutions. She has expertise in EEG, fMRI, eye-tracking, psychodiagnostics, and experimental design using R, Python, MATLAB, and OpenSesame. Alongside research and teaching, she actively engages in science communication and outreach.
