This page explains the admission requirements for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and MBA programs at the University of New York in Prague (UNYP), including academic qualifications, required documents, and English-language standards.

General Admission Requirements

Requirements vary by degree level and applicant background. In general, applicants must:

  • Meet the academic qualification requirements for their program
  • Submit a completed application form and supporting documents
  • Demonstrate English language proficiency (if applicable)
  • Complete an admissions interview
  • Pay the application fee


🔷 Bachelor’s Degree Admission Requirements

This section applies to applicants seeking admission to a Bachelor’s degree program at UNYP, including first-time applicants, secondary school graduates (including international schools), and transfer students.

Applicants must:

  • Have completed secondary education equivalent to a Czech maturita
  • Submit a completed application form and required supporting documents
  • Provide a personal statement and one recommendation letter
  • Demonstrate English proficiency (if applicable)
  • Pay the application fee

Additional documentation may be required based on individual circumstances.

Recognition of Foreign Education in the Czech Republic

For admission to Czech-accredited bachelor’s programs at UNYP (Psychology, Communication and Media, International Relations, and Business Administration/BBA), students must have their previous education officially recognized in the Czech Republic.

This process, known as nostrification, confirms that your high school diploma meets Czech academic standards. UNYP offers a simplified internal nostrification process for applicants, as well as guidance on general nostrification if required.

Translation & Certification

Documents not issued in English must include a certified English translation. Certified copies may be required.

Academic Eligibility

Applicants must have completed secondary education recognized as equivalent to that of the Czech Republic.

Final-year students may apply and receive conditional admission pending final results.


Interview

All applicants must complete an admissions interview (in person or remotely).


Math Placement Test

A math placement test may be required for course placement and scholarship evaluation.


🔷 Master’s Degree & MBA Admissions Requirements

This section applies to applicants seeking admission to the MBA, Master’s in Marketing & Digital Media, Master’s in Business Analytics, or Master’s in Psychology programs.

Applicants must:

  • Hold a completed undergraduate degree (or recognized equivalent)
  • Submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
  • Submit a completed application form
  • Provide a personal statement and letters of recommendation
  • Submit a CV outlining academic and/or professional experience
  • Demonstrate English proficiency (if applicable)
  • Complete an admissions interview
  • Pay the application fee

Detailed Requirements

Documents Required for All Graduate Applicants

  • Completed the UNYP application form
  • Certified copy of undergraduate degree (Bachelor’s diploma minimum)
  • Certified copy of official transcripts
  • Personal statement
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Copy of passport or national ID
  • Confirmation of application fee payment (2,000 CZK)

MBA

  • Completed a Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Motivational interview with MBA Director

Marketing & Digital Media / Business Analytics

  • Second Class Level 8 Honors Degree (H22) in a cognate discipline
    (e.g., marketing, business, finance, IT with marketing)

Alternative pathways:

  • Equivalent professional qualification
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for applicants with 3+ years of relevant experience

Motivational interview required.


Master’s in Psychology

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a closely related field
  • Motivational interview with Program Director

🔷 English Language Proficiency

Applicants who completed their previous education in a language other than English must provide proof of English proficiency.

Bachelor’s Programs

Minimum scores:

  • TOEFL iBT: 72+
  • IELTS Academic: 6.0+
  • Duolingo: 105+
  • Pearson PTE: 50+
  • Other internationally recognized qualifications

MBA & Master’s in Psychology

Minimum scores:

  • TOEFL iBT: 79+
  • IELTS Academic: 6.5+
  • Duolingo: 110+
  • Pearson PTE: 53+
  • Cambridge CAE/CPE (Grades A–C)

Marketing & Digital Media / Business Analytics

  • Minimum English level: B2+ (CEFR)

If you hold a different English qualification or certification not listed above, please contact the Admissions Office for individual review.

Waivers & Alternatives

Applicants without an official test score may be eligible for an internal UNYP English assessment, subject to Admissions approval.

English testing may be waived if a previous degree was completed entirely in English.


🔷 Transfer Students

This section applies to applicants transferring from another accredited university program. Transfer applicants may be eligible to receive credit for previous university coursework or recognized qualifications such as the IB Diploma, A-Levels, or AP examinations.

Transfer credit requirements vary depending on your previous institution, qualifications, and the program you are applying to. Required documentation may include official transcripts, external credential evaluations, or other supporting materials.

The relevant academic department reviews and approves all transfer credits.

🔷 International Applicants

We apply the same academic admission requirements to both domestic and international students.

Will my foreign diploma require recognition?
