Study Abroad Internships in Prague

UNYP’s Internship Programs form an integral part of the Study Abroad experience. They are designed for visiting students who want to combine academic study in Prague with hands-on professional experience.

Through these programs, Study Abroad students gain international work experience in Europe, build practical skills, and explore potential career paths while living and studying in Prague—one of Europe’s most dynamic capitals.

Important note: These internships are not automatically available to UNYP degree-seeking students. UNYP specifically structures them for students participating in a Study Abroad program.

Program Structure

UNYP offers internship options integrated into the Study Abroad term:

Spring Study Abroad + Internship

Students combine academic coursework with a part-time internship over approximately 10 weeks. Interns typically work up to 16 hours per week while completing 4–5 academic courses.

Summer Study Abroad + Internship

This option includes a short preparatory period followed by a full-time internship lasting approximately 9 weeks (40 hours per week). It is ideal for students seeking an intensive international work experience during the summer.

What’s Included for Study Abroad Students

The Study Abroad Internship Program fee covers a comprehensive support package to ensure a smooth academic and professional experience in Prague. The program is administered by EUSA and integrates professional practice with academic study.

The fee includes:

  • Internship placement, supervision, and evaluation
  • Academic internship coursework
  • Pre-departure preparation and orientation
  • Insurance and visa support (if required)
  • Housing and local transportation
  • On-site services throughout the program

Practical Program Information

Below you’ll find practical information to help you understand how the Study Abroad Internship Program works. The sections outline eligibility, application requirements, services and support, timelines, academic courses, and housing, giving you a clear overview of what to expect before, during, and after your program in Prague.

To qualify, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • At least one completed semester of college

If your GPA is lower than required, contact your home university coordinator to discuss eligibility.

Students apply online at UNYP.cz and must submit the following documents:

  • Motivation letter (English, max. 400 words)
  • Name of high school and graduation year
  • University transcript
  • Confirmation of English proficiency from your home university or an English language certificate (for further details, click here
  • Copy of ID or passport (plus digital passport photo)
    • Passport must be valid for the program duration + 3 months

The program fee includes:

  • Professional internship placement with supervision and mid-term review
  • Pre-placement virtual meetings and online pre-departure orientation
  • Third-party liability insurance
  • On-site internship orientation
  • Academic internship coursework and Prague Experience course
  • Tuition (spring semester with internship only)
  • 12–15 US credits (spring semester: 4–5 courses)
  • Housing and health insurance
  • Visa support if required
    • U.S. citizens are visa-free for stays up to 90 days
  • Airport pickup and transport to housing
  • Transportation pass and student benefits program
  • Mailing of final transcripts

After you are accepted into a UNYP Study Abroad Semester program, please complete the following steps:

  1. Review and sign your Study Abroad contract
    You will receive an email notification. Sign the contract electronically via Signi.
  2. Pay the Study Abroad program deposit ($500)
    • Pay through UNYP’s online payment portal: https://application.unyp.cz/online-payment
    • Include your UNYP Student ID number with the payment.
    • You can find your Student ID in the top-right corner of the first page of your Study Abroad Contract.
  3. Submit your Course Selection Form
    Refer to the Courses section below for detailed guidance.
  4. Provide your preferred mailing address
    Email your address to cge@unyp.cz.
    UNYP will send you the documents required for your visa application to this address.
  5. Submit a passport-style photo
    Email the photo to cge@unyp.cz.
    The photo will be used for your UNYP Student ID card and Prague transportation pass.
    The photo must meet official passport photo requirements:

  6. Prepare visa documents (non-EU citizens only)
    Follow the instructions provided by your local Czech Embassy.
    U.S. citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days.
  7. Complete the 25% program payment
    This payment is due one month before the program start date.
  8. Receive UNYP login credentials
    Access will be provided for UNYP email, e-learning platforms, and E-GNOMON.
  9. Join student communication channels
    Join the UNYP Visiting Students Facebook group and WhatsApp chat.
  10. Submit your flight arrival details
    Email your arrival information to cge@unyp.cz.
  11. Confirm visa approval (if applicable)
    Inform UNYP once your visa has been approved by emailing cge@unyp.cz.
  12. Complete the remaining 75% program payment
    This payment is due one week before the program start date.
  13. Arrive in Prague and attend orientation
    Arrive on the official Arrival Day and check in at UNYP for Day 1 orientation.

This section applies only to students participating in the Spring Study Abroad Semester with an internship.

  • Students are required to enroll in 4–5 courses, totaling 12–15 US credits.

The UNYP Study Abroad program includes accommodation in one of three student residences. UNYP assigns housing based on room availability.

All residences:

  • Are located close to the UNYP campus
  • Offer well-equipped rooms with free Wi-Fi
  • Provide additional shared facilities for students

Housing placement is managed entirely by UNYP to ensure convenient, on-campus proximity.
