Program Details

Explore the details of the UNYP semester study abroad program below.

Students must have completed at least one semester of college and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

If your GPA is below 3.0, please contact your home university coordinator for further guidance.

Applicants must submit the following materials:

  • Motivation letter written in English (maximum 400 words)
  • Name of your high school and year of graduation
  • Official university transcript
  • Proof of English proficiency, either:
  • Copy of passport or ID and a digital passport-style photo

Your passport must be valid for the entire program duration plus at least three additional months.

The Study Abroad Semester Program fee includes:

  • Tuition (12–15 credits per semester)
  • Student housing
  • Health insurance
  • Visa support
  • Airport pickup and transportation to housing
  • On-site orientation
  • Prague public transportation pass
  • Student Benefits Program
  • International Student Identity Card (ISIC)
  • Mailing of final transcripts

After being accepted into the UNYP Study Abroad Semester Program, students complete the following steps:

1. Sign the Study Abroad Contract

You will receive instructions by email to sign the contract electronically via Signi.

2. Pay the Program Deposit ($500)

Submit the deposit through UNYP’s online payment portal:

3. Select Your Courses

Submit the Course Selection Form. The UNYP Student Mobility Academic Manager will guide you through the registration process.

4. Submit Required Documents

Provide your preferred mailing address and a passport-style photo to cge@unyp.cz.

5. Prepare Visa Documents (if required)

Non-EU students may need to submit visa documents through their local Czech Embassy.
UNYP will provide supporting documents such as proof of accommodation, insurance, and acceptance.

6. Complete Program Payments

  • 25% of the program fee due one month before the program begins
  • Remaining balance due one week before the program begins

7. Prepare for Arrival in Prague

  • Send your flight details to cge@unyp.cz
  • Join the UNYP Visiting Students communication group

8. Arrival and Orientation

Arrive in Prague and attend UNYP orientation week before the semester begins.

  • Students take 4–5 courses per semester, totaling 12–15 U.S. credits.
  • After submitting your study abroad application, the UNYP Student Mobility Academic Manager will contact you and provide the current course list as well as guidance during the course registration process.

The UNYP Study Abroad Program includes student accommodation near the UNYP campus. Housing assignments are arranged by UNYP based on room availability.

Residences offer fully equipped rooms, free Wi-Fi, and convenient access to public transportation and campus facilities.

Students may request a single room for an additional cost of approximately $750 per semester, subject to availability.

Accommodation may be arranged in one of the following student residences:

  • Belgicka Apartments – renovated student apartments located about 100 meters from the UNYP campus, offering double rooms with private bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Student House Botic – located about 8 minutes from campus by tram, offering double rooms with en-suite bathrooms and shared kitchens on each floor.
  • ZEITRAUM Student Housing – dormitory-style accommodation located in a residential area with easy access to public transportation.
  • Erasmus in Prague Residences – centrally located student residences near UNYP offering high accommodation standards and student services.

The University of New York in Prague (UNYP) is committed to supporting globally minded students through financial assistance. Since its founding in 1998, UNYP has awarded over 4 million CZK in financial aid and scholarships to students.

To extend this commitment, UNYP offers the UNYP Education Abroad Scholarship to students participating in the Study Abroad program.

Scholarship Details

  • Award amount: $300 USD
  • Maximum: one scholarship per student
  • Available to eligible UNYP Study Abroad students

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Complete the UNYP Study Abroad application and submit all required materials by the scholarship deadline
  • Meet all Study Abroad admission requirements
  • Demonstrate current enrollment at a university
  • Maintain full-time enrollment in the UNYP Study Abroad program
  • Participate in UNYP housing
  • Remain in good academic and conduct standing throughout the program

Scholarship Deadlines

  • Fall 2025: April 18, 2025
  • Spring 2026: October 19, 2025

Application Process

To apply, students must:

  • Submit the UNYP Education Abroad Scholarship application
  • Write a 1–2 page essay explaining their eligibility and interest in the scholarship

Following the deadline, the UNYP Scholarship Committee reviews applications. Selected students are notified within two weeks of the deadline.
