At the University of New York in Prague (UNYP), we are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of our alumni, whose journeys inspire current and future students. One shining example is Lenka White, a graduate who has built a dynamic international career after completing her education at UNYP.
Studying at UNYP was a life-changing experience for me. Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in International Business at UNYP provided me with a solid academic foundation and essential soft skills, such as critical thinking, cross-cultural communication, and adaptability. Thanks to the American-style education system at UNYP, I was encouraged to think independently and work collaboratively — both of which proved vital in my career in international business development.
The international environment at UNYP exposed me to diverse cultures and perspectives, helping me develop a truly global mindset that set me apart in the competitive global job market.
After graduating from UNYP, I was determined to apply my knowledge and skills in a multicultural setting. I initially worked in Prague, but my passion for travel and international business soon led me abroad. I have since worked in the UK and Australia, gaining experience in industries such as hospitality management, corporate sales, and international marketing.
My UNYP degree in International Business opened doors internationally, and the university’s strong reputation gave me credibility when applying for roles in competitive markets. I can confidently say that UNYP’s emphasis on practical learning and global citizenship played a major role in shaping my successful international career path.
Transitioning to life and work in different countries came with its challenges, from adjusting to new cultures to understanding foreign job markets. However, the multicultural education environment at UNYP had already prepared me to be flexible, open-minded, and resilient.
For example, while working in Australia’s hospitality industry, I quickly adapted to a new work culture and regulatory environment, applying the analytical skills and cultural sensitivity I had cultivated during my university studies. These experiences taught me that continuous learning and adaptability are critical for anyone pursuing an international business career.
UNYP’s faculty of international professors brought real-world expertise into the classroom. Many of my professors had extensive professional experience, which allowed them to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Through coursework, internships, and networking events organized by UNYP, I developed practical skills in business strategy, negotiation, and international project management.
Additionally, the small class sizes at UNYP meant I received personalized guidance and mentorship, which helped me refine my professional goals and build the confidence needed to pursue ambitious opportunities abroad.
If you aspire to build an international career, take full advantage of the opportunities at UNYP. Network as much as possible, get involved in internships, and seek out international experiences even while studying. Employers value candidates who are not only academically strong but who also show global awareness, leadership, and resilience.
I also recommend developing strong communication skills, mastering multiple languages if possible, and being open to continuous learning. In today’s competitive market, graduates with international degrees, intercultural competence, and practical business experience have a clear edge.
Choosing the University of New York in Prague was one of the best decisions of my life. The unique blend of American and European educational standards, the international community, and the university’s commitment to developing globally competent graduates made all the difference.
If you are seeking a university that will prepare you for an international career in business, marketing, management, or communications, UNYP offers the education, support, and network you need to succeed in the future.
