Erasmus+ Program

Erasmus+: Study, Mobility, and International Cooperation

The Erasmus Program was established by the European Union in 1987 to support student exchanges and strengthen cooperation among European higher education institutions. In 2014, the program was expanded and modernized into Erasmus+. Today, it includes not only student study exchanges. It also includes teaching mobility, staff training, and international research cooperation.

Erasmus+ at UNYP: International Study in Practice

International education has been part of UNYP’s identity since its founding in 1998. UNYP is one of only three higher education institutions in the Czech Republic offering fully accredited degree programs taught entirely in English. Therefore, UNYP has a strong international foundation. Its academic community is made up of students and faculty from more than 60 countries.

UNYP has participated in the Erasmus+ Program since 2018, with students and academic staff actively participating in mobility opportunities each semester. Through a network of partner universities across Europe, Erasmus+ at UNYP offers real opportunities to gain international study experience. In addition, it broadens academic perspectives. It also strengthens professional and language skills—all as an integral part of the degree program.

Erasmus+ is a key pillar of UNYP’s international strategy and contributes to the university’s development in five main areas:

  • Graduate Success and Employability: International experience supports students’ personal development and prepares them for the global job market.
  • Quality and Relevance of Teaching: Mobility and cooperation with partner institutions bring innovation, new perspectives, and the development of global competencies.
  • Student and Staff Mobility: UNYP places particular emphasis on student mobility at the Bachelor’s level and supports the participation of academic and administrative staff.
  • Linking Education, Research, and Practice: Erasmus+ supports projects, internships, and international cooperation, especially within follow-up Master’s programs.
  • Institutional Development and Sustainability: The program contributes to institutional development, diversified funding, and cooperation with public- and private-sector partners.

UNYP views Erasmus+ as one of the key tools for further strengthening the international dimension of study and academic life.

Exchange Opportunities

Below is an overview of exchange opportunities and practical information for students who wish to study abroad through the Erasmus+ Program. This section is also for those who want to come to UNYP as international exchange students.

Outgoing UNYP Students (Study Abroad)

The Erasmus+ Program at UNYP enables students to complete part of their studies abroad at partner universities and gain valuable academic and personal experience. Study periods completed through Erasmus+ are fully recognized as part of the student’s study plan. Meanwhile, students retain their UNYP student status for the entire duration of their mobility.

Studying abroad supports the development of academic knowledge, language skills, and the ability to function in an international environment. In the program, students may study abroad for one or two semesters at a wide range of European universities. These universities participate in the Erasmus+ Program.

Detailed information on eligibility requirements, the selection process, course recognition, and administrative procedures is available in the study abroad opportunities section.

Incoming Erasmus+ Students to UNYP

UNYP welcomes Erasmus+ exchange students interested in studying in Prague at an English-language American university. Incoming students become part of UNYP’s international academic community and may choose from courses across a wide range of disciplines.

Studying at UNYP provides an international learning environment, small class sizes, and close interaction with faculty, along with support for orientation, adaptation, and integration into student life in Prague.

More information on the application process for incoming students, available courses, the academic calendar, and practical matters related to staying in the Czech Republic is available in the section for incoming Erasmus+ students.
