A Strong Start to the Academic Year: UNYP’s Orientation Week in Review

A dynamic start to the semester with academic guidance, cultural immersion, and community connection.

As spring arrived in Prague, the University of New York in Prague (UNYP) welcomed new and returning students with its annual Spring Orientation Week. It was a dynamic start to the semester. The week combined academic onboarding, practical student support, Czech cultural immersion, and community-building social events.

Day 1: Welcome, Connections, and Key Student Information

Orientation Week opened with sessions designed to help students settle in and feel supported from day one. Students joined Ice Breakers to meet classmates and build new connections. Then, they attended essential info sessions. These included Documents for Visiting Students (practical guidance for their stay in Prague) and Introduction to Prague (tips and orientation to the city and local environment).

Day 2: Czech Culture, Language, and Exploring Prague

Day two focused on cultural immersion, with sessions covering Czech Language, Czech History, and Czech Culture. These sessions gave students a deeper understanding of life in the Czech Republic. The day concluded with a citywide Prague Scavenger Hunt and the popular Welcoming Pancakes event. This blend encouraged exploration, fun, and student socializing.

Day 3: Student Life, Clubs, and Creativity

The Club Fair introduced students to UNYP’s student-led organizations and opportunities to get involved on campus. Creativity took center stage with hands-on activities like Tote Bag Painting and Cupcake Decorating. These activities brought students together in a relaxed, community-focused setting.

Continuous Learning and Engagement

Beyond the social events and cultural activities, UNYP’s Spring Orientation Week also provided essential, practical support to help students start the semester with confidence. Key sessions included Safety Instructions, Visa/Traveling for Visiting Students, and a comprehensive Technology at UNYP workshop. Students also attended Library Orientation. At this session, they were introduced to academic resources and services to support their studies throughout the semester.

The week ended on a high note with a group bowling event. This event gave new students a fun, relaxed way to bond and celebrate the end of a week packed with learning, exploration, and new connections.

With Orientation Week’s momentum still strong, the University of New York in Prague looks ahead to an energetic and successful semester for the entire UNYP community.
