UNYP partner Junior Achievement nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

The University of New York in Prague has been a proud partner of the Junior Achievement organization in the Czech Republic since 2019. We are thrilled to announce that Junior Achievement Worldwide has been nominated for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize. JA is one of the world’s most impactful youth-serving NGOs, operating in over 100 countries. It is a privilege for us to work together with JA on our shared mission of educating young people and preparing them for their careers and adult life. Our organizations both want a better future for a new generation, and we work to achieve this by helping younger people with their education.

JA Czech has gained a strong reputation by organizing entrepreneurial contests, such as the “JA Studentská Firma” and “Social Innovation Relay” contests for Czech high school students, as well as providing economic education to children of kindergarten age and up, since 1992. The brand was started by known Czech entrepreneur Tomas Bata after he returned from Canada to re-establish the Bata shoe company. This year, the competition (in cooperation with UNYP) is adding an all-English “Business Pitch” category to the regional round competition, which will be held on 7th April in Galerie Harfa in Prague.

Martin Smrž, the director of JA Czech commented, “This nomination for JA Worldwide is the beginning of a journey for the JA network, especially when many organizations have been nominated multiple times before being shortlisted or selected as a winner. We are honored and humbled to be considered alongside such illustrious nominees.”

UNYP will be watching the Nobel Peace Prize award process closely, and we can’t express how proud we are to partner with JA CR. Congratulations!
