How has entrepreneurship bounced back in Central Europe since the COVID-19 pandemic? Doc. Ondřej Dvouletý’s latest study dives into post-pandemic trends across the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia—and the results are surprising.
Using detailed Eurostat data, the research reveals that in most sectors, entrepreneurial activity not only recovered but also grew beyond pre-pandemic levels. The sharpest increase? The information and communication sectors, where digitalization, remote work, and online services drove a boom in new ventures.
However, not all trends were upward. Employer entrepreneurship—new businesses that hire staff—showed mixed results, suggesting a more cautious approach to growth in uncertain times.
