Quick Facts
Lenka White graduated from the University of New York in Prague with a Bachelor’s degree in International Economic Relations in 2016. Since graduating, she has developed a successful international career, currently working as a United Nations correspondent in New York. Her story illustrates how global academic foundations and practical experiences at UNYP can support graduates pursuing careers on the world stage.
Studying at UNYP was a transformative experience. My Bachelor’s degree provided a solid academic foundation and essential competencies such as critical thinking, cross-cultural communication, and adaptability — skills that have been vital throughout my career. The American-style education encouraged independent thinking and collaborative work, which prepared me for demanding international professional environments.
The university’s international environment exposed me to diverse cultures and perspectives, helping me develop a global mindset that has differentiated me in competitive career contexts.
After graduating, I aimed to apply my skills in multicultural settings. I initially worked in Prague but soon pursued opportunities abroad — including roles in the UK and Australia in sectors such as hospitality management, corporate sales, and international marketing. My UNYP degree opened these international doors, and the practical focus of my studies gave me credibility when applying in competitive markets.
Working in different countries came with challenges, including adapting to new cultures and job markets. However, the multicultural education at UNYP had already prepared me to be flexible, open-minded, and resilient. For example, in Australia’s hospitality sector, I quickly learned to navigate distinct work cultures and regulatory environments by applying analytical skills and cultural sensitivity developed during my studies.
UNYP’s international faculty brought real-world perspectives into the classroom, bridging theory and practice. Through coursework, internships, and networking events, I developed practical skills in business strategy, negotiation, and international project management. Small class sizes meant personalized guidance and mentorship, which helped me refine professional goals and build confidence for ambitious career opportunities abroad.
