Nur Farizah Sedek is an academic advisor, lecturer, and mental health counselor currently residing in Prague, Czechia. Her passion forms an ongoing engagement in the areas that span the existential-humanistic and spiritual-mystical psychologies, as well as their philosophical underpinnings.
Her academic experience in psychology formally began in 2016. Since then, she has made academia her metaphorical second home, having now graduated magna cum laude with two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree, as well as continuing to work at the very same institutions. Here, she guides students in their academic trajectory. Throughout her academic career, she encountered various learning experiences, not just psychological theories put forth in the classrooms, but also the day-to-day realities of life as an academic. Something that she finds rewarding is being able to now mentor current undergraduates through the challenges of academia, be it through academic advising or teaching. Her academic interests include Cultural Psychology, Consciousness Studies, Transpersonal and Spiritual Psychology, Islamic Sufi Psychology, Research Methodologies, as well as Phenomenological and Existential-Humanistic Psychology and Philosophy.
She is currently enrolled in an MSc psychotherapy training diploma in Existential Analysis and Logotherapy with GLE-UK, as well as the Ph.D. in Psychology program at Saybrook University to specialize in the areas of Existential and Humanistic Psychology, along with Consciousness, Spirituality and Integrative Health.
