Óscar Hidalgo-Redondo is Dean of the School of International Relations and Media Studies at the University of New York in Prague (UNYP). Originally from the Basque Country, Spain, he holds an M.Phil. by research in Politics and Government from the Graduate School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent at Canterbury (UK), and a Licenciatura in Politics and Sociology from the University of the Basque Country (Spain).
He has taught courses in politics and international relations at UNYP since 2001. In 2005 he received UNYP's Outstanding Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence.
He became Chair of the Department in 2007 and has since worked on curriculum development and faculty recruitment. During this period the School has added the concentrations in Diplomacy & International Law, Conflict & Security Studies, and Global Governance to its offerings. In this period, the School of International Relations and the School of Communication and Media also merged.
His research interests cover democratization, political violence, nationalism, and regionalism.
