Kevin William Johnson

William Kevin Johnson has taught English in a variety of settings, both in the U.S. and abroad. In Taiwan, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia, he taught university courses in English composition, ESL conversation, English literature and English for business and for journalism. He also taught in the private sector, conducting courses in business English for companies and tutoring professionals. In the USA, he taught in the rhetoric program at the University of Texas and in the ELAC program at the University of Arkansas, which is a support program that focuses on teaching research and writing to new international students. Likewise, he served as the site coordinator for the Fulbright Student/Scholar Pre-Academic program at the University of Arkansas. At the University of Texas in Dallas, he is currently completing his PhD in Humanities with a specialization in modernist & contemporary American literature; he is on schedule to defend and graduate in the Spring term of 2024. Outside of the academy, he has worked with language in a variety of situations—as a writer, an editor, a scholar and an entrepreneur. As a development associate and consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area, he researched grants, wrote proposals, and built nonprofit databases. He has, likewise, written and edited articles for small magazines, promotional materials for companies, and text for web sites.
