UNYP MBA

Dr. Marek Minárik’s career path has been a fascinating blend of scientific exploration and business ventures. At the start of his professional journey stood his family’s legacy: a renowned manufacturer of laboratory equipment, a business with deep-rooted traditions passed down through generations. At the other end was a modern biotechnology startup, bursting with innovation and holding the promise of revolutionizing cancer diagnostics.

Despite his rich experience and deep scientific insight, Dr. Minárik often found himself navigating the complexities of the business world, frequently relying on intuition rather than formal business knowledge.

To address this gap, Dr. Minárik turned to an MBA program at the University of New York in Prague. While joining the program at 51 might seem unconventional to some, for Dr. Minárik, it was a well-considered step towards comprehensive professional growth.

The academic environment was both diverse and enlightening. Sharing the classroom with students from 16 different countries, age became less prominent, replaced by a rich tapestry of global perspectives. Diving into subjects like financial management, strategic planning, and project management, Dr. Minárik garnered invaluable insights that were directly applicable to his business challenges, equipping him with methods to craft systematic business strategies.

A particularly enlightening session on Scrum Project Management became a pivotal moment for him. He realized the potential of integrating this approach into his startup, aiming for optimized operations and improved efficiency. Subsequent board meetings revealed a reinvigorated Dr. Minárik, his presentations now enriched by his freshly acquired expertise.

Dr. Marek Minárik’s journey stands as a sterling testament to the power of lifelong learning, where scientific expertise and business insight come together.
