TOP 3 Weekend Abroad Getaways from Prague

The final exams are finally behind us and the summer break is in a full swing. It is the perfect time for UNYP students to pamper themselves with a little get-away. We have uncovered three student-friendly European cities worth visiting for a weekend.

1. Munich, Germany

Munich is not only worth visiting during Oktoberfest. Apart from a great selection of beers at Hofbräuhaus, the capital of Bavaria has many other delights to offer.

Pick your choice of transport: it takes eight hours to get to Munich by comfortable coach or car, and only four hours by modern train. There is a huge variety of accommodation options in Munich and its neighborhoods – hotels, hostels, bed & breakfast, and couch surfing.

Everyone can find an attraction according to their interests. German car admirers are advised to visit the BMW museum, nature lovers can partake in water activities in the English Gardens, and desperate romantics can take a train to Fussen and walk through the forests of the Bavarian Alps towards the Neuschwanstein castle.

TIP: With UNYP Benefit Program you can enjoy special weekend car rentals at a reduced price. Go grab your bunch and hit the road!

2. Vienna, Austria

The capital of the waltz and final resting place of the most famous Austrian composer, Mozart, is only a four-hour drive by bus or car from Prague. Once the capital of a great empire, Vienna is full of museums, galleries, and exquisite parks; make sure you stop by the Schönbrunn Zoo to fall in love with their panda cub. Also, while you are there, do not forget to visit the Belvedere and its complex of gardens, to pay tribute to the statue of Maria Theresa, or to check out the incredible Imperial Treasury and Sisi Museum at Hofburg Palace.

TIP: Should you wish to taste the real Austrian experience, order a cup of coffee with a Sacher torte at a Viennese café!

3. Amsterdam, Netherlands

The city of canals and museums, just 1,5 hours away with an affordable flight, would suit anyone. Amsterdam is famous for its nightlife and cultural experiences. Art enthusiasts will enjoy the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum, party animals will definitely find something to do: Woodstock 69, an affordable party lounge located on the beach — perfect for both hot summer afternoons and nights. Waterlooplein, a flea-market in the very center of Amsterdam, is a godsend for your student apartment. You can find anything and everything here — from vintage toys and collectible mini models of cars to spare parts for common bikes.

TIP: Do not forget to taste Dutch herring! If you do, make sure you praise it with the phrase ’Mmm, lecker!’ (’Mmm, delicious!’), it will definitely come in handy!
