UNYP’s new exchange partner – Tarleton State University

UNYP was honored to host distinguished guests from Tarleton State University (US) on 8 December in Prague. Prof. Alex del Carmen, Executive Director of the School of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Strategic Studies at Tarleton, and Prof. Tara O’Connor Shelley, Director of the Institute of Criminal Justice Leadership & Public Policy, met with UNYP’s General Manager Sotiris Foutsis, Rector Dr. Andreas Antonopoulos, and Dean of Academic Development William Barnard, Ph.D. to discuss expanding and extending the two schools’ cooperation. Currently, Dr Shelley plans to lead a program at UNYP in 2017 on Criminal Justice, Crime and Deviance in Eastern Europe that will involve both Tarleton and UNYP students. The two schools have discussed extending exchange, study abroad, and degree programs to serve students from both TSU and UNYP.

Located near the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area, Tarleton State University is a public university, part of the Texas A&M state system of universities and colleges. With an enrollment of over 12,000 students across six colleges, the university serves a regionally and internationally diverse student population. Tarleton’s School of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Strategic Studies currently includes four research institutes

·         The Institute for Criminal Justice Leadership and Public Policy

·         The institute for Mediation, Arbitration, Legal Studies and Forensics

·         The Institute for Predictive and Analytical Policing Science

·         The Institute for Homeland Security, Cybercrime, and International Criminal Justice Studies
