What Every CEO Needs to Know about Crisis Communication

On Thursday March 6th, Dr. Mike Smith from La Salle University gave a Pulse (UNYP Lecture Series) lecture at the University of New York in Prague on the subject of Crisis Communication.

Dr. Smith, Associate Professor in the department of Communication at La Salle University in Philadelphia, is no stranger to UNYP. The founding director of the Professional and Business Communication program has taught yearly at UNYP since 2001. Courses he has taught have included Organizational Communication, Conflict Resolution, and Public Relations Campaigns.

His talk, entitled ‘What Every CEO Needs to Know about Crisis Communication,’ focused on the imperatives for companies in the contemporary PR-driven media environment. Using practical cases of how organizations have dealt with communicating with publics both positively and negatively, Dr. Smith outlined the communication dangers and possibilities that arise through crises.

Dr. Smith’s talk attracted a very diverse audience including UNYP bachelor students, MBA students, applicants for the 2014-2015 Professional and Business Communication cohort, faculty, and members of the public.
