UNYP hosted Career Days 2021

UNYP Career Days 2021 took place from Monday April 19 to Thursday April 22, and was organized as an online event due to the ongoing pandemic situation.

The primary purpose of UNYP Career Days is to provide UNYP students and recent graduates with a deeper insight into the recruiting process, tips for how to prepare and impress a future employer, and the dos and don’ts of searching and applying for a first job or internship. In addition, we invite potential employers to present themselves to UNYP students.

The first part (Monday – Wednesday) was comprised of practical and interactive workshops and webinars on various topics relating to the main theme. It was a great pleasure to welcome two successful UNYP alumni, Ladislav Čapek and Dimana Mabhena.

We would like to thank our guest speakers Kryštof Kopecký (Linked Akademie), Andrea Colantoni (Adecco), Peter Greif (ADP), Petra Drahoňovská (Career Designer), Ladislav Čapek (Intellmaps), Jakub Hořický (Absolventi.cz), Dimana Mabhena (Future Females) and Radka Sotáková (myTimi) for all the effort and energy that they put into their presentations. They presented the most up-to-date information from the professional and recruitment world, focusing on the following topics:

· How to build up a personal brand with LinkedIn

· How to cruise through the perfect storm of a changing job market

· How to succeed in an interviewing process

· How to write a CV that will get you to an interview

· Results of the TOP Employers survey

· How to pick your future employer in Corporate or Startup

· How Ladislav Čapek went from “garage” to Silicon Valley with Geosense

· Employment and Business for Foreigners in the Czech Republic

The final day (April 22) was dedicated to the Virtual Job Fair, where we always encourage students to make early contact with potential employers. Each company had a half-hour time slot available for informal discussion and consultancy about their job/internship offers and hiring process, as well as any other questions raised by the students.

We would not be able to hold UNYP Career Days without the cooperation of leading companies, organizations and recruitment agencies in the local market. This year, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the following partners: Havas, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, AB InBev, Mondelez, Deutsche Boerse Group, Ernst & Young, s.r.o., Startup Jobs, Xflow, Grafton, Coca-Cola, AIESEC, ADP, CARE, Marketup, Nestlé, SAP, International Study Programs, ICON Communication Centres s.r.o.

We look forward to organizing UNYP Career Days 2022, and we hope that the pandemic situation in the Czech Republic will have improved to the point where we can meet in-person again.

Feedback from a Master’s Degree student:

Ana Turcanu - International Management

“I want to say one more time, a big thanks for what you have done. I really enjoyed every training from these days, and I definitely recommend it to everyone thinking about starting a career. I am so thankful for all the people that worked to make this week take place, and so proud to be a part of the UNYP family.”

Feedback from a workshop lecturer:

Petra Drahoňovská – CareerDesigner.cz

“I consider it amazing that the Career Office of UNYP pays such great attention to the topic of career development in the current situation of rapid changes in the labor market. Even in the time of the Covid pandemic, they have dedicated an important space to experts sharing their know-how with UNYP’s international community of students. The organization of the whole event was absolutely professional, and I appreciated the questions that the students asked at the end.”

Feedback from a Virtual Job Fair participating company:

Tereza Majková - Ernst & Young, s.r.o. (Senior Recruitment Specialist)

“This was our first cooperation with UNYP – we were not in touch before, as most of our roles require a knowledge of the Czech language, and we thought it might be a serious limitation. However, the experience was very pleasant (and I hope the students felt the same way) – we had a very nice discussion, and the students were genuinely interested in our teams, culture and selection process. It was truly a pleasure to participate and bring EY closer to the UNYP students. Thank you for having us!”
