Psychology Research Student Symposium to become a tradition!

The Psychology Department at the University of New York in Prague held the second annual International Student Symposium.

Undergraduate and graduate students were invited to present their original research in a collegial atmosphere. A high level of scholarship was reflected in posters and presentations authored by psychology and media students from the University of New York in Prague, and psychology students from Charles University, LaSalle University, Masaryk University and Palackeho University. UNYP faculty from the psychology and communications departments moderated the panel sessions focused on a large array of themes such as undergraduate students‘ quality of life, behavioral issues and well being in youth, media perspectives, and mental health. An engaging dialogue between presenters and the audience was fostered. Presenters were invited and encouraged to publish their work in E-psychologie, an on-line peer reviewed journal.

The conference was well attended by UNYP current and former students, as well as students from other universities. The presentations seemed to inspire the younger students to start thinking about their own future projects. Presenters, attendees and faculty were all invited to a reception organized after the conference, where they had the opportunity to exchange ideas, socialize and create friendships in a relaxing atmosphere.

The conference was organized by the UNYP Psychology Club and psychology department faculty. The next year’s officers of the psychology club were already offering valuable help at this conference and were getting ready to start preparing another successful event in 2015!
