The next step – connecting graduates with leading companies

On completing their studies the last thing graduates need is to find themselves facing the competitive labor market unarmed. Many face challenges connecting with businesses and finding suitable positions. UNYP takes the employability of its graduates seriously and has many proven methods to connect students with top companies, providing both networking experiences and strong internships, some that lead to full-time positions. UNYP’s Career Office Manager Petra Šenková explains “Connecting students with businesses during their study is key for ensuring they develop the right skills, contacts and opportunities.”

One of the services the Career Office provides to students is monthly company presentations. These sessions provide an opportunity to talk with employers, develop professional contacts and hear about potential career opportunities first hand. In fact, thanks to UNYP’s strong relationship with many companies its students and graduates are often offered internships and jobs exclusively. The university’s annual Career Day has drawn the attendance of top companies, such as Unilever, Exxon Mobil and Anheuser-Busch, and allow graduates to meet key HR managers from the companies and even apply first hand.

Socialbakers is one of the Czech Republic’s most successful startup stories. Alex, who received his Bachelor in Business Administration from UNYP, joined the social media analysis company in 2011 as one of the first 25 employees and is now responsible for global sales and marketing operations for ten worldwide offices with over 300 employees. Based in Prague, Alex has built the operational structure for the rapidly scaling sales growth of the company that now boasts over 1600 clients. Alex is one of many UNYP students that secured work at Socialbakers; “The thing that UNYP graduates bring is passion and energy, as well as quality and a strong work ethic” says the company’s founder and CEO Jan Řežáb. “As an international company with a multi-cultural working environment it’s key that everyone speaks great English, so it’s perfect to have such a talented pool of candidates from all over the world coming from UNYP and we know then, that English is a problem!”

Alex credits his UNYP teachers for pushing him to “think outside the box” as well as learning to “work in an international environment, apply critical thinking and communicate ideas clearly and back them up with facts.”
